MSU volleyball close out season with senior night

The Minot State University (MSU) women’s volleyball team closed out the 2024 regular season with two final home games. Friday, November 15, was senior night as the Lady Beavers hosted the Sioux Falls Cougars and Saturday, November 16, as MSU hosted Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) foes from Wayne State for the final contest.

No. 15 Wayne State 3, MSU Volleyball 0

The MSU volleyball team closed out its season with a 25-10, 25-16 and 26-16 loss to the No. 15 Wayne State Wildcats on Saturday, November 16, at home at MSU Dome in NSIC action.

MSU finished the season with a 2-25 overall record and a 0-18 mark in NSIC action.

Bailee Brommenschenkel finished with seven kills on the day to lead the Beavers offense while finishing with a hitting percentage of .25. MSU got 11 digs from Kelci Madrid to lead them defensively.

MSU attackers were helped by a team-high 21 assists from Jaina Macaulay.

The Beavers found themselves in an early hole, losing a tough first set 25-10 and trailed by as many as 15 points as Wayne State grabbed the advantage for good at 4-3 in a set that was knotted up three times before the Wildcats took control.

MSU then lost the second set 25-16 to fall behind in the match two sets to none. MSU trailed by as many as 12 points as Wayne State grabbed the advantage for good at 3-2 in a set that was knotted up just once before the Wildcats took over the lead.

MSU couldn’t prolong the match and lost in set number three. The Beavers fell behind on the first point and never took the lead before falling in the set 25-16 for the Wildcats sweep.

Sioux Falls 3, MSU Volleyball 0

The MSU volleyball team racked up ten blocks on “Senior Night” but it wasn’t enough as the Beavers fell 25-22, 25-18 and 25-14 to the Sioux Falls Cougars Friday, November 15, at the MSU Dome in NSIC play.

Faith Di Mola finished with seven kills on the day to lead the Beavers attack. MSU also got nine digs from Di Mola along with six blocks from Paulina Kowalska and five rejections from Bailee Brommenschenkel to lead them defensively. MSU attackers were helped by a team-high 12 assists from Emily Barker.

Brommenschenkel was one of three seniors honored before the match along with teammates Taylor Wyatt and Madelynn Boop.
