MSU men up, to No.2 women hold pace at No. 9
Three home wins last week helped the Minot State University (MSU) men’s hockey team move up one spot in the latest American College Hockey Association (ACHA) Division I national poll, while the Beaver women held their ground after a weekend split.
The MSU men (8-1-1 overall) beat Mary and swept a pair of games against Grand Canyon which helped the Beavers climb from No. 3 to No. 2 in the latest poll released by the ACHA.
In-state rival and unbeaten Jamestown (13-0-0) remained the No. 1 team in the country while UNLV moved up to No. 3, Ohio remained No. 4, and Adrian (Mich.) moved up to No. 5.
The Minot State men host Waldorf (Iowa) this weekend at the Maysa Arena with puck drop at 3:30 p.m. on Friday and 3 p.m. on Saturday.
The MSU women (7-3-0) remained at No. 9 in this week’s ACHA Division I women’s national poll after splitting a home weekend series against then-No. 12 Lindenwood. The Lions slipped one spot to No. 13.
The two teams play their third straight game head-to-head today in Missouri.
Liberty (Va.) jumped to the No. 1 spot in this week’s poll, displacing Maryville which fell to No. 2 while McKendree dropped to No. 3. Minot State plays at McKendree on Saturday in the WMCH Showcase.
Michigan was No. 4 and Adrian No. 5, rounding out the women’s top five.
