MSU men head to Missouri for Maryville Showcase

The Minot State University (MSU) Beavers men’s hockey team is headed to Chesterfield, Missouri, for three straight games at the Maryville Showcase.

The Beavers take on the University of Arizona in game one on Thursday, November 21, at 5:15 pm. The Beavers take on Liberty University in game two on Friday, November 22, at 3:15 pm. The Beavers take on Maryville University in game three on Saturday, November 23, at 3:45 pm.

The #2 Beavers are currently 13-1-1 on the season. The University of Arizona is currently 5-6-0, Liberty University is currently 9-5-2, and Maryville University is currently 10-4-1.

MSU is coming off of a two-game series sweep over Midland University. The Beavers defeated Midland on Friday, November 15, by a final score of 6-1. The Beavers shutout Midland on Saturday, November 16, by a final score of 3-0.

MSU outscored Midland in the two-game series 9-1. The Beavers are currently riding a 10-game win streak, and are looking to add on to the streak at the Maryville Showcase.

Historically, the Beavers have found a lot of success against the University of Arizona and Liberty University, while they have only taken on Maryville University once in the program’s history.

MSU holds four wins in four total games played against the University of Arizona with the last game resulting in a 3-1 win back on February 12, 2022. MSU holds a 12-1 record over Liberty University with the last game resulting in a 8-1 win for the Beavers back on September 30, 2023.

The Beavers have taken on Maryville University only one time in the program’s history dating back to February 10, 2024, where Maryville University won by a final score of 2-3.

Colby Joseph and Jay Buchholz are the leading forwards in points scored with each player having 18 points on the season.

Colby Joseph is the leading forward in goals scored with 11 goals on the season. Logan Rands is the leading defensemen in points scored and goals scored with nine points and six goals on the season.

Jake Anthony and Will Dyke have both been impressive in goal this season for the Beavers. Jake Anthony currently holds a record of 6-1-1 with a save percentage of 0.925, and Will Dyke currently holds a record of 5-0-0 with a 0.920 save percentage.

Following the Maryville Showcase, the Beavers will be back in action in a two-game series against #1 University of Jamestown. Game one is on Friday, December 6, at 3:30 pm in Jamestown, North Dakota, and game two is on Saturday, December 7, at 7:30 pm at the North Dakota Fairgrounds (All Seasons Arena) in Minot.
