Minot State men uncork offense on Waldorf in win, improve to 9-1-1
The Minot State University (MSU) men’s hockey team scored nine goals in their game one win against Waldorf on Friday at the Maysa Arena. Reid Arnold led the way for the Beavers with a hat trick in the game.
This win improves the Beaver’s record to 9-1-1 on the season, as Waldorf drops to 4-9-0 on the season.
The first period was full of scoring for both Minot State and Waldorf.
Christian Kadolph got the Beavers’ scoring started early with a goal scored at 0:56 into the first period to put the Beavers ahead 1-0. Waldorf answered back with a goal scored by Audun Caple at 6:07 at the end of a power play in the period, knotting the game up at 1-1 for a short time.
The Beavers took a 2-1 lead at 6:47 into the period on a goal scored by Matthew Yakubowski for his first goal of the season. Waldorf answered back yet again tying the game up at 2-2 on a goal scored by Liam Wallace at 15:13 into the period.
Logan Rands put the Beavers ahead 3-2 on a goal scored at 18:03 into the first period.
Waldorf tied the game back up at 3-3 in the second period on a goal scored by Jordan Adams at 6:40 into the period. The third goal scored by Waldorf would be their last goal of the game as the Beavers went on to score 6 additional unanswered goals.
Arnold put the Beavers ahead 4-3 on a power play goal scored at 7:54 into the second period. Reid Arnold would again find the back of the net with a goal scored at 8:51 into the period to increase the Beaver’s lead to 5-3.
Colby Joseph got the Beavers on the board early in the third period with a goal scored at 1:38 into the period to make the score 6-3 at that point. Eric Krywy was the next Beaver to join the score sheet with a goal scored at 14:53 into the third period to extend the Beaver’s lead to 7-3 enroute to the lopsided win.
Kieran Cooke scored his first goal of the season at 15:42 into the third period to make the score 8-3 while Arnold scored his third goal of the game to complete the hat trick on a short handed goal at 19:32 in the final period to give the Beavers a 9-3 lead.
Walker Jerome (3), Joseph (2), Kadolph (3), Payton Jerome, Jay Buchholz, Reece Henry, Brett Tataryn, Matt Egan and Rands were all credited with assists in the game.
Will Dyke had 18 saves on 21 shots on goal to secure the victory for the Beavers and to improve his record to 4-0-0 on the season.
Following today’s 9-3 win against Waldorf, the Beavers will be back in action on Saturday, November 9, at the Maysa Arena at 3:00 pm in game two of a two-game series against Waldorf.
