Minot High clinches No. 3 seed in upcoming tourney
Minot High rallied from a 2-0 deficit on Tuesday, November 6 against Dickinson to earn a five-set win and clinch the number three seed for the upcoming West Region Tournament. Dickinson will be ranked number four.
Minot High lost the first set by a close 25-23. In the second set, Dickinson rallied past the Majettes 25-11. Minot High redeemed themselves, winning the third set 25-19. With that momentum the Majettes won the fourth set 26-24 and the fifth set by a close 15-12. Minot High won the match 3-2 making their record in the WDA 18-4.
Jayda Schall led the team with 13 kills and seven digs. Kynsli Gillmore followed with 11 kills, one block, one assist, and five digs. Mackenzie Dufner led the team with 36 assists, six kills, and 17 digs. Raegan Terrel had one kill, six assists, and 27 digs.
For Dickinson Jenna Nelson led with 25 kills, three blocks, six digs, and two aces. Cecilia Homiston had nine kills, 2.5 blocks, 41 assists, and 25 digs. Lexi Bradley finished with nine kills, one assist, 19 digs, and one ace.
Minot North 3,
Watford City 1
Minot North traveled to Watford City on Tuesday where they beat the Wolves 3-1. The Sentinels won the first set 25-23, dropped the second set 25-22, rallied back, and won the third set 25-12. Minot North won the fourth and final set 25-20 against Watford City.
For the Sentinels Cadence Shipman led with 26 kills, two blocks, 18 digs, and three aces. Brynn Francis had four kills, one block, 15 assists, and 16 digs. Kaiya Chell led the team with 23 assists.
For Watford City Fallon Sampsel had 11 kills, 3.5 blocks, three assists, 10 digs, and four aces. Bailey Mattson had 10 kills and 10 digs. Adi Schaff had four kills, one block, and eight digs. Hope Cross led with 17 assists.

Minot High School
With the Minot High victory at Dickinson and the Minot North win at Watford City, both teams seeding was determined as each prepares for the 2024 WDA Tournament that will be hosted by Minot High starting Thursday, November 14, and end on Saturday, November 16, with the championship game at 4 p.m. on the final day of play.
Minot High as the third seed has a bye this week and will await the winner of the play-in game between the sixth and the eleventh seeds.
With the win over Watford City, Minot North moved up from seventh in the WDA standings to the sixth slot and will face Watford City, again, in the play-in game to face Minot High on day one of the tournament at Minot High next week.
The top seeded Bismarck Century will face the winner of the eighth seed Williston and the ninth seed Mandan. The fourth seed Dickinson will face the winner of the fifth seed, Bismarck Legacy and the twelfth seed TMCHS.
In the second half of the bracket, in addition to Minot High facing either Minot North or Watford City, the second seeded Bismarck High will face the winner of the seventh seed Jamestown and the tenth seed St. Mary’s.
Games start at 1 p.m. on Thursday, November 14, at Minot High with the next game starting two hours after the previous match. Minot High is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start time.
