Dissette, Miller lead Bison past Minnesota Crookston, 67-60

FARGO – Sophomore Darik Dissette and senior Masen Miller both scored 16 points to lead the North Dakota State University men’s basketball team to a 67-60 victory over Minnesota Crookston on Thursday evening, November 21, at home.

The Bison improved to 3-3 on the season with the win.

Dissette added seven rebounds to go along with his career-high 16 points. Miller finished with six rebounds and a team-high four assists. Noah Feddersen and Jeremiah Burke both added 10 points for NDSU.

The Golden Eagles shot 42% for the game and made 10-of-25 (40%) from three-point range, compared to NDSU’s 41% overall and 5-of-18 (28%) from beyond the arc.

NDSU capitalized on 17 offensive rebounds with 21 second-chance points.

The game was tied at 56-56 with five minutes remaining before the Bison pieced together an 11-3 run to go ahead 67-59.

The Bison will spend Thanksgiving week in Alabama for three games hosted by Samford University. On Tuesday, November 26, NDSU will play Samford at 6:30 p.m. followed by playing West Georgia on Wednesday at 3 p.m. The last game will be Thursday, November 28, against Utah Valley at 2 p.m.

NDSU and Samford have never met in men’s basketball. NDSU and West Georgia have never played in men’s basketball. The Bison and Wolverines have played nine times previously, with NDSU leading the series 5-4. Utah Valley won the last meeting, 68-62 in Fargo on November 23, 2019. Home teams are 7-2 in the series, with this being the first meeting on a neutral court.

The Bison rank 18th in the nation for fewest turnovers per game (9.0) and 21st nationally for fewest fouls committed per game (13.7).

Senior Jacari White posted career-highs in back-to-back games to open the season, scoring 22 points vs. Jamestown on November 4 before pouring in 27 points vs. Illinois State on November 7. Through six games, he is averaging 17.0 points.

The Bison are averaging more than 30 three-point attempts per game this season. NDSU’s 39 three-point attempts vs. Illinois State on Nov. 7 were only one off the school single-game record of 40.

NDSU’s point guard duo of junior Brennan Watkins and freshman Andy Stefonowicz have combined for 26 assists compared to just 9 turnovers this season.
