No. 2 Minot High beats Mandan at home, 39-21

Mandan traveled to Minot High on Friday to take on the Magicians on their home turf. Mandan and Minot High are both 2-0 in the AAA Western Dakota Association (WDA) play and both teams are 4-2 overall this season making this matchup a must watch for fans on both sides.

The game started off hot with Minot High’s Kellan Burke scoring a touchdown straight away. Mandan responded though, returning the kick and going on a run to score a touchdown right after. With the score tied 7-7 Minot High’s Burke ran into the endzone for his second touchdown in a row putting the Magician’s in the lead once again.

Minot High continued to apply the pressure to the Brave’s throughout the first half. The score going into halftime was 32-14.

In the second half the Brave’s were not ready to give up yet, as Mandan scored another touchdown putting the score at 32-21 with four minutes left in the third. Minot High responded by scoring another touchdown leaving the score at 39-21 at the end of the third.

In the fourth quarter neither team scored and the Magician’s claimed the 39-21 win.

In other WDA action, not much will change on the polls this week, all ranked teams took home wins this Friday.

Fargo Davies at number one beat West Fargo 35-14. Third ranked West Fargo Sheyenne had no trouble with Fargo North winning 50-6. Fourth ranked Bismarck Century beat Williston 49-13 and fifth ranked Bismarck High beat Bismarck Legacy 34-26.

Minot High will be at Legacy next Thursday, October 17, for their next WDA action.
