Minot High Majettes edge Legacy Sabers in four sets

Minot High’s volleyball team started the day in third place in the Western Dakota Association (WDA) standings and edged past the fourth team in the standings, Bismark Legacy on Monday night, October 29, after going to four sets with the Sabers. Minot High won the match 3-1.

Minot High will keep their third place nearing the NDHSAA Class A, West Region Volleyball Tournament.

Minot High also celebrated senior night on Monday honoring their seniors for all of their hard work over the years. Seniors Raegan Terrel, Mya Bogden, Jayda Schall, Sydney Aberle, Nicole Couture, and Leah Walter were honored.

The Majettes won the first set by a close score of 25-23. With this momentum, they went on to win the second set 27-25. Legacy came back in the third set winning by a score of 25-23 but Minot High responded in the fourth and final set winning 25-20.

Sophomore Kynsli Gillmore led with 15 kills, five digs, and one block. Junior Mackenzie Dufner led with 47 assists, three kills, one ace, and 11 digs. Senior Jayda Schall had 12 kills, nine digs, and one block and senior Raegan Terrel had 25 digs.

The Majettes will be traveling to Watford City on Thursday, October 31, for their next match-up.

Minot North 3, St. Mary’s 1

The Sentinels made the trip south to take on St. Mary’s and, despite dropping the first frame 26-24 – the visitors from Minot North won 25-12, 25-23 and 25-19 to keep pace with the rest of the Western Dakota Association (WDA) group.

WF Sheyenne 3,

GF Central 0

The top ranked Class A volleyball team hosted Grand Forks Central on Tuesday, October 29, and had little trouble defending the home court at West Fargo Sheyenne with 25-15, 25-12 and 25-22 scores for the sweep.

Shanley 3, GF Red River 0

Grand Forks Red River made the trip to Shanley to take on the second ranked volleyball team in the state. The hosts started with the 25-23 close win and then flexed in frames two and three with the 25-13 and 2519 scores for the sweep.

Bismarck High 3, Century 1

The fifth ranked Bismarck High hosted the third ranked Bismarck Century in a critical WDA matchup. The first frame went to Century 25-16 then the home court advantage gave the Demons the edge for the 25-21, 25-22 and 25-20 win to shake up the rankings.

Valley City 3, WF Horace 2

The fourth ranked West Fargo Horace traveled to Valley CIty and the home team toppled the higher ranked visitors for the win.

Valley CIty took the first two frames 25-20 and 25-19 while the visitors took frames three and four with scores of 25-16 and 25-19 leaving the teams tied 2-2 going into the final frame. Valley City took the win with a 15-9 momentum showcase score.

Fargo Davies 3,

Fargo North 0

The team tied with Bismarck High in a fifth place ranking hosted crosstown rivals and the home team Davies beat the visiting North as the two Fargo teams battled to 25-17, 25-17 and 25-21 scores.

Glenburn 3, Nedrose 0

Glenburn hosted Nedrose in Class B volleyball action. The home team won in three with 25-14, 25-10 and 25-23 in the sweep.

As the sixth seed, Nedrose will face the three seed from Bottineau in the opening round of district 11 play Thursday, October 31, at Velva high school. As the fifth seed in district 12, Glenburn will face the fourth seeds from Berthold on Thursday, October 31, at Minot Auditorium.
