Lady Lakers sweep Lady Aggies at home
The Velva volleyball team traveled to face Class B foe Des Lacs-Burlington as the regular season winds down. The Lady Lakers worked the home court magic and took the win 25-12, 25-9 and 25-15 as both teams prepare for postseason play.
Des Lacs-Burlington is seeded third for the upcoming region 6, district 12 tournament while Velva is seeded seventh for the region 6, district 11 tournament.
Logen Ystaas led the Lakers with 12 kills while Ava Brown added ten kills in the win. Kaylee Werner posted 12 digs and 33 assists as she also recorded her 1,500 career assist in the match. Piper Feller added seven kills and 11 digs while Hailey Goetz also had 11 digs in the game. Mycah Faken and Hope Walen each recorded one kill at the net and Maizy Frey had three aces for Des Lacs-Burlington.
Velva was led by Anya Olson with six kills and a block while MaKena Panchot had five kills in the effort. Lani Colochenko had seven assists while Maddie Schwan added six for the Lady Aggies. Keely Cadwell tallied 12 digs while Brynlee Zieman had nine and Rylie Weninger posted eight in the effort.
Velva will be at South Prairie-Max today, October 25, while Des Lacs-Burlington will travel to Hazen on Monday, October 28, in the final games of the regular season for each team.
Berthold 3,
Nedrose 0
The Berthold volleyball team traveled to play at Nedrose and took the win 25-13, 25-10 and 25-20 over the hosting Lady Cardinals.
Ella Brown had six kills, 20 assists and six digs in the game for Berthold. Shayne Simons and Lily Schepp each had four kills. Schepp had two blocks as did Auree Schepp. Simons had 12 digs and four aces in the win. Jericka Scherfisch had nine digs and two aces in the win as well.
Lilly Nelson posted 14 kills, one block and 11 digs in the match for Nedrose. Kenna Huff had three kills and 21 digs while Brynley Bertsch had 16 assists, 15 digs and an ace in the effort. Cambree Lemasters tallied 11 digs as well for the Lady Cardinals.
The Lady Bombers close out the season by hosting Rugby on Monday, October 28, while Nedrose will be at Glenburn on Tuesday, October 29, in their last regular season game.
Glenburn 3, Rugby 1
The Glenburn Panthers traveled to face the Rugby Panthers in a duel of the big cats. The visitors from Glenburn fought to an 18-25, 25-23, 25-20 and 25-13 win over the hosts.
Sophie Cunningham posted 25 assists and 16 digs in the contest. Emma Jones had 22 kills and seven blocks while Mila Jones had two aces and a block in the win. Aubrie Quick posted 17 digs and seven kills while Hallie Martens had ten digs and Ava Stevens posted four kills in the win.
Rugby was led by Lacie Deplazes with 12 kills, 21 digs, two blocks and a pair of aces. Jesse Wolf posted 16 assists while Alli Blessum had nine kills in the effort. Brylee Amyotte had eight digs and two aces while Reese Guillickson had five kills and a pair of blocks as well. Ava Jacobson had eight assists and two aces in the game for Rugby.
Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood 3, Newburg-Westhope 2
The Mavericks traveled to Newburg-Westhope and fought tooth and nail to take the win, despite trailing early and watching the hosts even the match at 2-2 going into the fifth frame. The visitors were able to edge the hosts 13-25, 25-20, 25-23, 23-25 and 15-10 in a contest that could have gone either way.
Ray 3, Garrison 0
Ray made the trip to take on Garrison and swept the hosts 25-20, 25-10 and 25-12 for the road win. Ray has locked up the second seed in region 8, district 16 as the postseason approaches.
