Berthold Bombers rally past Mustangs 3-0

The Berthold Bombers traveled to Surrey High School on Tuesday night and walked away winning three matches in a row against the Surrey Mustangs.

The Bombers started off hot winning the first match 25-21. In the second match after going back and forth with the Mustangs the Bombers pulled through winning 25-17. Surrey pushed until the very end, coming close to winning the third match but falling short to the Bombers with a score of 25-22.

Des Lacs-Burlington 3, Bishop Ryan 0

The Lions made the trip to face the Lakers in region 6, district 12 action with seeding on the line. Des Lacs-Burlington swept Bishop Ryan 25-12, 25-17 and 26-24 in the competitive matchup.

Logen Ystaas posted 11 kills, 17 digs and two aces to lead the Lakers. Mycah Faken added ten kills and two blocks. Kaylee Werner tallied 27 assists and nine digs in the game. Ava Brown added six kills and a block while Hailey Goetz had nine digs. Piper Feller also had six kills in the win for Des Lacs-Burlington.

Tochi Udekwe and Anne Fricke each had eight kills for the Lions. Edekwe added seven assists and nine digs while Fricke had a block at the net. Cambrie Johannes had 17 assists for Bishop Ryan while Alena Johannsen had five kills. Olivia Demars had ten digs and a block while Rylie Deeter tallied 15 digs in the effort.

Century 3,

Minot High 1

Minot High traveled to Bismarck to face third ranked Century in Western Dakota Association (WDA) volleyball action. The hosting Patriots posted scores of 25-11, 25-22, 19-25 and 25-11 for the 3-1 win over the visiting Majettes.

Eve Knutson and Leah Walter each posted nine kills for the Majettes. Mackenzie Dufner continued to add to her assist count with 32 on the night. Raegan Terrel had 14 digs while Dufner added 13 in the game.

Minot High will continue their road games with a trip to face WDA foe Jamestown on Thursday, October 10.

Bismarck High 3,

Minot North 0

The Sentinels made the trip to Bismarck to face the Demons, who had received votes this week in the state polls. Minot North was unable to make a dent in the Demon’s defense as Bismarck High swept 25-15, 25-6 and 25-16 for the WDA win.

The Sentinels will travel to play Bismarck Legacy on Thursday, October 10, for the next WDA matchup.

Velva 3, Rugby 2

In a battle of familiar foes, the Velva Aggies edged the visiting Rugby Panthers 16-25, 26-28, 25-22, 25-22 and 15-13 in a match that could have gone either way.

Velva was trailing 0-2 and needed to use all five frames to edge Rugby with the fifth frame that could have gone either way.

Drake-Anamoose 3, Newburg-Westhope 2

Newburg-Westhope hosted the heated matchup with Drake-Anamoose and fought back from an 0-2 mark to tie the game at 2-2 before the visitors posted 15-9 in the fifth frame for the win. The scores for the Drake-Anamoose win were 25-17, 25-20, 25-27, 19-25 and the 15-9 for the road win.

Stanley 3, Nedrose 1

The Cardinals traveled to Stanley for a second night of battle with another bird team. The hosting Blue Jays scored 25-22, 25-19, 24-26 and 26-24 for the win over the visitors from Nedrose.

Glenburn 3, Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood 0

In the battle of rival northern schools, Glenburn defended their home court with scores of 25-14, 25-19 and 25-17 for the sweep over the visiting Mavericks.
