The Minot North cheer team recently had 23 members attend a Universal Cheerleaders

Association Camp (UCA) on August 2 and August 3.

“They [the team] went to camp to get credentialed for stunting and they did a great job catching onto everything,” said Minot North head cheer coach Carly Johnson. “They earned a gold ribbon for their camp cheer routine, which means it was the best it could be- and then they also got a superior squad trophy!”

The team had the opportunity to learn when it comes to instruction such as: Sideline coaching, Safety Awareness and Credentialing, Spirit Prop Workshops, Stunt Class, Captain and Coaches’ Goal Setting, Pyramid Class, Game Day Cheers, Private Coaching, Leadership Training, FNL Frenzy Class, Motion Technique Class, Jump Class, and Stunt Troubleshooting.

Minot North is in the second year participating as a varsity team and will be in their first year cheering at true “Home Games” in their own school.

“Overall it was great and the girls had a really good time and successfully completed their camp!” said Johnson. “We had 6 All Americans selected (All American is a short tryout they do of the material they learned, and if they are selected it means they were the best ones). Those girls were Jaidyn White, Ashley Carr, Vreelyn Nygaard, Winter Getzlaff, Payton Stolba, and Alina Kibler. Which is really awesome to see 6 girls get selected!”

Starting at $2.99/week.
