‘Bees lost last game at home, two on the road

The Minot Honeybees played host to the Mankato Habaneros for the last of four games in Minot, then made the trip to Madison for a pair of games on Thursday, July 4, against the Night Mares. Weather in Madison had both games delayed periodically for each game.

Minot will be at the La Crosse Steam on Friday, July 5, for the next game.

Night Mares 14, Honeybees 4

With weather still delaying portions of the game, a back-and-forth battle ensued for the evening in Madison. The Honeybees scored the first two runs at the top of the first inning of play. The Night Mares cut the score in half with a run at the bottom of the first inning.

Madison would add four more runs at the bottom of the second inning and Minot answered with two runs at the top of the third inning of play. The Night Mares added six more runs at the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 11-4 lead after four innings of play. Madison would score three more runs at the bottom of the fifth inning for the 14-4 win.

Minot was 6-for-21 at the plate with four errors as a team in the game. Shayna Myshrall was 2-for-3 with an RBI in the effort. Shannon Nelson, Sydney Farmer, Abbie Stigler and Trinity Gregg each had a hit in the game. Jackie Albrecht pitched two and one-third innings and allowed six runs- two earned- with three hits. She also had five walked batters and four strikeouts. Kierra Fournier pitched two and one-third innings and allowed four runs on eight hits with four walked batters and three strikeouts.

Madison was 8-for-24 batting. Carly Oliver was 2-for-4 at the plate. Tia Durst, Lecie Shaver, Haley Remington, Dannielle Lucey, Brooke Steinhorst and Addie Blomberg each added a hit in the win. Karlie McKinzie pitched four innings and allowed four hits on six runs and walked five batters with six strikeouts. Kendall Weik pitched one inning with no runs or hits and two strikeouts recorded.

Night Mares 13, Honeybees 3

In a game rescheduled due to weather, the Madison Night Mare led 3-0 after two innings of play. Minot would score two runs to narrow the gap at the top of the third. Madison tacked on six runs at the bottom of the third and four more at the bottom of the fifth inning for the 13-3 win.

The Honeybees would score two runs at the top of the third and one run at the top of the fourth inning of play.

Minot was 5-for-19 at the plate with one team error. Cairah Curran was a perfect 2-for-2 batting. Shayna Myshrall, Skyler DIetz and Dominique Baker each had one hit in the game. Payton Whitehead pitched two and two-third innings and allowed nine runs- eight earned- on seven hits with one being a home run. Jasmine Blizzard pitched two innings and allowed four runs on six hits in relief.

Madison was 13-for-27 batting with one error as a team. Chloe Wamboldt was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs. Sydney Jones was 2-for-2 with three RBIs as well. Lexie Shaver and Addie Blomberg each added two hits in the win. Andrea Joskowiak pitched all five innings and allowed three runs on five hits, walked three batters and recorded six strikeouts.

Habaneros 4, Honeybees 2

The Minot Honeybees hosted the Mankato Habaneros in the final softball game of their four game series on Tuesday, July 2, in the newly formed Northwood League. The Habaneros would clinch the series by 4-0 to remain atop of the division.

The Habaneros took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Amity white scored on a Paige Zender put out. Dominique Baker scored the HoneyBees game tying run off Caitlyn Dannenfelzer single to left field in the bottom of the third inning to make it 1-1 at the end of the inning.

The Habaneros retook the lead and were up 2-1 at the close of the fourth inning as Zender scored on a Jessa Snippes put out. The Habaneros increased their lead in the top of the fifth innings, mounting two more runs on the Honeybees. Riley Stiles scored Habaneros fourth run as Amity White advanced to first base. The Habaneros fifth run was scored by Grace Leitheiser on Emma Lee single to center field.

Jackie Albrecht scored an unearned run for the Honeybees on Shayna Myshrall single to center field in the bottom of the sixth innings, as the Habaneros held on to a 4-2 victory.

The Honeybees batted 7-for-29 and had one error in the game. Albrecht batted 1-for-3 and scored a run. Shayna Myshrall batted 1-for-3. Skyler Dietz batted 2-for-3. Baker batted 1-for-3 and scored a run. Dannenfelzer batted 1-for-3 and had a RBI.

Kierra Fournier pitched five innings, allowed five hits, four runs, walked one and struck out two batters. Peyton Whitehead pitched two innings, allowed one hit and walked two.

The Habaneros batted 6-for-24 and had three errors in the game. White batted 2-for-4, scored a run and had a RBI. Lee batted 1-for-3, had a RBI and walked once. Zender batted 1-for-3, scored a run, had a RBI and walked once. Hall batted 1-for-4. Snippes had an RBI. Stiles had a run and walked once. Leitheiser batted 1-for-3 and scored a run.

Hall pitched seven innings, allowed seven hits, two runs and struck out six batters.
