Hot Tots fall on the road
WILLMAR, Minn. – The Minot Hot Tots kicked off their two game road series against the Willmar Stingers on Tuesday, June 25. The Hot Tots wanted to get back on track after losing three of four last week when they hosted four games against the Stingers. The Hot Tots would lose game one of the two games in Willmar by a 4-1 score.
The Stingers initiated the scoring with the first run of the game in the bottom of the third inning. Trevor Winterstein scored on a Rhett Stokes sacrifice fly to put the Stingers up 1-0.
The Bottom of the fifth inning was a similar story as the Stingers put another run on the board. Jack Spanier scored on a Winterstein single to right field.
A two-run home run blast by Rhett Stokes put the Stingers up 4-0 and made way for Winterstein to score once again.
The Hot Tots scored their only run of the game in the top of the eighth inning with Wyatt Reginato scoring off Evan Dempsey put out.
The Hot Tots batted 4-for-30 and had one error. Lucas Pringle batted 2-for-3 and walked once. Cody Grebeck batted 1-for-3. Mateo Serna batted 1-for-3 and had a walk. Reginato scored a run. Tristan Moore had a walk. Evan Dempsey had a walk.
Anthony Cordero pitched four innings, allowing three hits, two runs, three walks and struck out three batters. Thomas Leiden pitched two and two-third innings, allowing two hits, two runs, three walks and struck out one batter. Rhys Francis pitched one and one-third innings, allowing one hit and struck out two batters.
The Stingers batted 6-for-27 and had zero errors. Winterstein batted 2-for-2, with two runs scored, one RBI and walked once. Stokes batted 1-for-3, with one run scored, one home run, and three RBI. Spanier batted 1-for-3, with one run scored and walked once.
Andrew Sojka batted 1-for-2 and walked twice. Gabe Swensen batted 1-for-3. Collin Hynek had one walk. Jack Taxdahl had one walk. Sam Trypa pitched seven innings, allowing four hits, two walks and struck out six batters. Tate Robertson pitched two innings, allowing one run, one walk and struck out three batters.
Minot will play Willmar again on Wednesday, June 26 before returning home to play Mankato MoonDogs on Thursday, June 27.
