Mandan sends Minot North home with loss
MANDAN – With warm up tournaments competed, Western Dakota Association (WDA) play has started for teams and Minot North made the trip to Mandan for both teams to start WDA action. The Braves would take the win 9-0 over the visiting Sentinels, winning six singles and three doubles matches.
Sentinels Parker Vigestad faced Karter Hatzenbuhler at the number one singles where Hatzenbuhler went 6-1, 6-2 for the win. Rylan Thompson played Jared Christen at number two singles and Christen won 6-0, 7-5 in the hardest fought match for the Sentinels.
Minot North’s Colton Griffith faced Ryan Blitz and lost 6-1, 6-1 at the number three singles while Brayden Callahan played Lucas DeRosier at the number four singles and lost 6-3, 6-3. Sentinel Payton Opp faced Deklan Wollschlager where Wollschlager took the 6-2, 6-2 win at number five singles. Reece Blikre represented Minot North at the number six singles and lost to Matthew Christen 6-0, 6-1 for the Mandan sweep.
Vigestad and Griffith played Hatzenbuhler and Bitz at the number one doubles and lost 6-0, 6-0 while Thompson and Blikre represented Minot North against J. Christen and DeRosier where Mandan’s team won 6-2, 6-1 at the number two doubles. Callahan and Opp faced Wollschlager and M. Christen at the number three doubles where the Mandan team won 6-2, 6-4 for the home team sweep.
Mandan currently sits second in the WDA standings, just behind Minot High. Mandan’s record is 1-0, 5-0 and with the sweep, they have won 9 matches and lost none. Minot North is 0-1, 1-4 overall and with the opening contest are at 0-9 for matches won verses lost.
Minot North will host Bismarck Legacy on Tuesday, September 10, when they take on their next WDA opponent.
