Ruth Jagd, 92, Minot, died peacefully on Saturday, March 8, 2025 in a Minot hospital. Her loving family was at her side.

Ruth Inez was born on August 13, 1932 in Fairdale, ND to Jacob and Amelia (Arneson) Westby. She was raised on the family farm north of Fairdale. She graduated from Fairdale High School in 1950 and continued her education at Aaker Business College in Grand Forks where she received specialized training in secretarial studies.

Ruth was united in marriage to Robert ‘Bob’ Jagd on May 6, 1954 in Hoople, ND. They made their home in Grand Forks while Bob finished his schooling at U.N.D. Ruth was employed at the Grand Forks Chamber of Commerce until 1955 when their son Doug was born. And after a short time in McIntosh, MN, they moved to Minot in 1957. Ruth was employed at ND Employment Services until 1961, at the Minot Chamber of Commerce until 1967 and at Minot State University from 1967 until 1994 when she retired as the secretary of the Social Studies Department. Bob passed away on July 16, 2011. Ruth continued to reside in their home on Valley View Drive where she enjoyed their beautiful backyard and Doug’s company until she became a resident of Maple View Memory Care in 2023.

Ruth was a member of Christ Lutheran Church of Minot where she served in several volunteer roles. Ruth enjoyed traveling which included trips to Europe, Russia, Australia, Africa, Panama Canal and all 50 states.

Ruth especially enjoyed playing games, gardening and gathering with friends. She will be remembered for her stoic nature, quick wit, and the love she shared with her granddaughter and great grandchildren.

Ruth’s family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Maple View Memory Care for the excellent care they provided over the last 2 years.

Ruth is survived by her son: Douglas Jagd of Minot; granddaughter: Tamara St. Clair of Bismarck; great-grandchildren: Aiden and Annika St Clair; brothers: Jerome (Rita) Westby and Richard (Linda) Westby all of Grand Forks and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 57 years: Bob, sisters: Elaine Fagerholt, Dorothy Mohagen, Grace Fischer and Arlene Knorr and brother: Stanley Westby.

Celebration of the Life of Ruth Jagd: March 24, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in Christ Lutheran Church- Minot. A livestream of the service may be viewed by using the link in the website obituary.

Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park- Minot.

Visitation: Sunday March 23, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home – Minot.

Memorials are preferred to Christ Lutheran Church – Minot.
