Paul J. Goldschmidt, Ret. CMSgt, 79, Minot, passed away on Monday, March 17, 2025 in his home.

Paul Joseph Goldschmidt was born on November 2, 1945, a son of John A. and Elvira (Rose) Goldschmidt in Dayton, OH. He was raised and educated in Dayton, where he attended the Chaminade Catholic School for Boys, graduating in 1964.

On October 12, 1965, Paul enlisted into the United States Air Force, proudly serving his country during the Vietnam Conflict. Paul retired following nearly 30 years of dedicated service on May 31, 1995.

Paul was united in marriage to Bonnie Stierlen on June 7, 1969 in Baudette, MN. Paul’s service led them to Minot, in September of 1985, and the family settled in their current home. Together they raised their three children Brian, John and Kristina.

Following his retirement, Paul furthered his education by attending Minot State University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Information System Management. He then began working within the 5th Communications Squadron, Minot AFB, retiring in 2014, following 15 years of civil service.

Paul was a member of Burlington Rural Fire Department, Air Force Association, United States Air Force Radar Reunion Group, and the United States Air Force Iceland Radar Reunion Group.

He enjoyed working out in his yard, traveling, hunting, camping, fishing, and spending time with his family. Paul was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend and will be deeply missed.

Paul is survived by: Wife of 55 years, Bonnie; two sons: Brian (Marcia) Goldschmidt, John (Missy) Goldschmidt, daughter, Kristina (Steven) Windmueller; grandchildren: Keenan (Abby) Windmueller, Morgan (Eric) Alexander, Bailey Goldschmidt, Kayla Goldschmidt, Cody Goldschmidt, Sean Goldschmidt, Taylor Goldschmidt; step-grandsons: Nick Webster and Riley Webster; Siblings: Robert Goldschmidt, Dale(Anita) Goldschmidt, Linda Grewell, Helen (Richard) O’Toole; brothers and sisters-in-law: Richard (DeVonna) Stierlen, Barbara (Roosevelt) Fluellen, Wayne Stierlen; several cousins also survive.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law Walter (Oletha) Stierlen, brother-in-law Jerry Grewell, and a sister-in-law Judy Stierlen.

Visitation: Sunday, March 23, 2025 from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot

Liturgy of the Word: Monday, March 24, 2025 at 10 a.m. at St. Therese Church of the Little Flower, Minot. The service will be livestreamed and may be accessed by going to Paul’s web page at www.thompsonlarson.com

Graveside Service: Monday, March 24, 2025 at 3 p.m. at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND
