Marlin Schiele, 74, of Minot, ND, passed away on Saturday, March 8th, 2025 surrounded by family.
Marlin was born on June 22, 1950, in Minot, ND, to Jerome and Bernadine (Schatz) Schiele. He grew up on the family farm in Karlsruhe and graduated from Karlsruhe High School in 1968.
On October 3, 1969, Marlin married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and endless adventures. Their family grew to include two sons, Brad and Steve, and daughter Kelli. Marlin was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.
Marlin was known for his wide range of talents. He was truly a jack of all trades, having worked in farming, life insurance sales, appliance repair, and most recently, truck sales at Westlie Truck Center for the last 25 years. He earned the respect of his colleagues and customers alike with his exceptional negotiation skills and deep knowledge of his work. Marlin was an avid snowmobiler, classic car collector, and motorcycle enthusiast.
A man of many connections, Marlin never met a stranger. Whether he was meeting friends for coffee, attending car shows, watching local basketball games, or on vacation, he seemed to know someone everywhere he went. His sense of humor was legendary, and he always had a witty remark or story up his sleeve to make others laugh.
Marlin is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Marilyn Schiele, Minot; son, Brad (Suzie) Schiele, West Fargo, ND, daughter, Kelli (Matt) Hillerud, San Diego, CA; grandchildren, Kenzi (Brady Hanson), Carson Schiele, and Mariah and Kinley Hillerud; great grandchildren, Maizie and Sydney Hanson; sisters, Bonnie (Wade) Locken, Mohall, ND, and Cindee (Kent) Ness, Horace, ND; brother, Clem (Jackie) Schiele, Lino Lakes, MN; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerome and Bernadine Schiele; son, Steve Schiele; father and mother-in-law, Peter and Theresa Miller; brothers-in-law, Randy Zerr and Marvin Miller; and nephews, Doug and Darren Miller.
Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Karlsruhe. Peter and Paul Catholic Church Cemetery, Karlsruhe. Visitation: Friday, March 14, 2025 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
