Mandan

Charlene “Char” Frost, 55, of Mandan, North Dakota and formerly of Velva, ND passed away on February 23, 2025, after a brief but fierce battle with glioblastoma. Though her time with us was far too short, her impact was immeasurable.

Born on May 6, 1969, Char was one of seven siblings, growing up with a love for family, laughter, and adventure. She married Mark Frost in 2003, and together they built a life full of love, joy, and Disney World trips-one of her favorite places to be.

Char was a devoted mother to her two children, Erin (Eric) Luedtke and Maran Frost (17), and a proud grandmother to Connor (4) and Hayden (19 months). She adored her grandkids and spent countless hours outside with them, searching for ladybugs, digging for worms, and playing with caterpillars. She was never bothered by the mess-mud-covered hands and a handful of wiggly worms in her living room just meant another adventure was unfolding.

Char was also Erin’s rock, always there no matter the time of day or night. She never left a call unreturned, always ready to listen. More than just a mother, Char became Erin’s best friend. They grew up together, and in the last few years of her life, their relationship deepened into something truly unbreakable.

Char and Maran shared an especially close bond, built on love, laughter, and a shared enthusiasm for life. They were both devoted Minnesota Vikings fans, cheering on their team through every win and loss. Char was Maran’s biggest supporter, celebrating every milestone and accomplishment. She was incredibly proud of Maran’s involvement in FCCLA and loved watching her grow into the strong, kind, and talented young woman she is today. Whether they were planning their next Disney trip, watching football, or just spending time together, Char treasured every moment with her youngest daughter.

She was Maran’s biggest hockey fan, cowbell in hand, cheering loudly and proudly from the stands. Her larger-than-life personality could light up any room, and she had a way of making friends with anyone, anywhere. No matter what life threw at her-including a long battle with progressive multiple sclerosis-she never wanted pity. She faced every challenge with resilience, humor, and an unshakable spirit.

Char believed in celebrating life, not mourning it. She always told her family that when she passed, she wanted a party, not a sad gathering. In honor of her wishes, a celebration of life will be planned to share stories, laughter, and memories of the incredible woman she was.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Camden, whom she lost late in pregnancy. She will be laid to rest with him, a wish she always held close to her heart. She is survived by her loving husband, Mark Frost; her children, Erin (Eric) Luedtke and Maran Frost; her grandchildren, Connor and Hayden; her siblings; Karla Giraldez, Deanna Mascol, Sheila Kartes, Lisa Kersten, Curt Long and Brent Long. Marks family; Virgil and Helen Frost, Mike Frost, Jeanne Gasiorek, Julie Munch, and Peg Martin; beloved dog: Noodle Jac Frost along with many dear friends and extended family members who will forever cherish her memory.

Char lived her life with love, laughter, and an open heart. Her kindness, strength, and unwavering support will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
