Kalispell, Mont.
Allan J. Fredrickson, 82, passed away peacefully after a short illness on March 9, 2025. He was born August 5, 1942 to Julius and Bertha (Furness) Fredrickson in Powers Lake, North Dakota, one of four sons who grew up on a farm.
He married Sandra Gunderson on June 1, 1968 in Columbus, North Dakota and they adopted their daughter, Jodie, in July of 1973. Jodie was Allan’s pride and joy and he loved being a father to her.
Allan graduated from Minot State Teacher’s College and taught fourth grade in North Dakota before moving to Kalispell to teach at Peterson and Edgerton Elementary Schools. Allan took great joy in teaching and mentoring students until he retired.
In retirement, Allan and Sandy spent their winters as “snowbirds”, wintering in Yuma, Arizona, where they enjoyed a very active social life including playing shuffleboard, cards and attending concerts.
In recent years, Allan became very active socially with his close circle of friends at the Woodlands Condominiums in Kalispell, where he regularly played cards and bingo and spent time volunteering at the local Republican headquarters. He also participated in egg shoots at North Valley Sportsmen’s Club and enjoyed taking part in a large fireworks display on the Fourth of July every year with his son-in-law, Mike. Allan will always be remembered for his love of life.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Darrell (Leo) and Les Fredrickson.
He is survived by his wife Sandy, daughter Jodie Coston (Mike) and brother James (Pat) of Lewistown.
A Celebration of Life will take place at Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home in Kalispell on Saturday, March 15 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Edgerton Elementary School in Kalispell.
