Westhope

Tanya Cooper, 60, went to be with the Lord at her Daughter and Son in laws home in Surrey North Dakota on Sunday February 9th 2025 following months of battling AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia). Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Westhope.

Tanya Marie Weyer was born to Raymond L. Weyer and Marilyn (Gray) Weyer on June 3,1964 in Tioga North Dakota. She was a young girl when they eventually moved to Westhope where Tanya was raised and graduated from Westhope (Sioux) High School in 1982. Tanya was involved in many activities in High School including Basketball where she was known for her rebounding.

After high school she attended the Headquarters Academy of Hair design in downtown Minot. Tanya married her high school sweetheart, Jeff Cooper, on April 29th, 1984 {The Storm of 84}. They made their home in Westhope, where they raised their 3 kids, Jordan, Katie and Michael. She was so proud of all her children and loved going to all of the sporting events they were involved in over the many years.

She was once owner operator of Shear Pleasure Beauty shop in Westhope and thoroughly loved all the women that she would do hair for. Tanya also was involved in the family fuel business for years as the bookkeeper and Secretary. She worked for the Census Bureau for quite a while which she enjoyed, because of her love for travel.

In April of 2024 Tanya would get her calling and worked for Independence Inc. in Minot N.D. She was so proud of what she was doing. She loved helping all the people that she was involved with over the few months she was there. Her co-workers and the work that she did will always hold a special place in her heart.

So grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Jeffrey of Westhope; children, Jordan (Deidre) Minot-Burlington N.D., Katie (Cooper) Blackaby, (Josh), Surrey N.D., Michael Cooper (Kirsten) Bismarck, N.D. Father in Law Roger (R.C.) Cooper, Minot N.D., Sister Muriel (Daryl) Andersen, Lake Metigoshe, N.D., Sister in Law Tammy Cooper Mosser (Ken), Sioux Falls, S.D., Brother in Law Kelly Cooper, Fargo, N.D. Grandchildren, Leila West, Vyah, Ford, and Archie Cooper, Maecey Mckibbin, Tayven Blackaby and many other special nieces and nephews.

Tanya was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Shawna Deschamp.

Honorary urn bearers are all of Tanya’s nieces and nephews .

We would like to thank everyone for all the love and support we have been given the last few months during this difficult time. Thank you for all the acts of kindness, comforting words, sharing memories of Tanya for us and for all the hugs. Thank you to all who have traveled to share this special time to Celebrate Tanya’s life. We deeply appreciate it! May God Bless you all.
