Kari Thorson, 54, Minot, ND, passed away February 6, 2025, at Trinity Hospital.

Kari Lynn Juergens was born June 3, 1970, the daughter of Richard and Julie (Halvorson) Juergens, in Minot. She was raised and educated in Minot, graduating from Minot High School in 1989. Following graduation, she attended Meyer’s School of Broadcasting.

Kari worked at Schatz Truck Stop in the restaurant and worked her way up to manager of the c-store. She then worked for ING/Cognizant for 20 years before working at Roger Ward in the most recent years. She also produced social media posts for Better B Café and the Smash Factory, which she loved to do.

She married Marlin Thorson on August 2, 1996. They made their home in Minot. They were blessed with one daughter, Kaitlyn.

She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church.

She found joy in using Snapchat to create funny photos and videos, bringing smiles to her family and friends. She loved coloring on her phone, playing Solitaire, and was a master of online shopping–especially on Amazon. One of her favorite little joys was hiding tiny ducks around her workplace for her coworkers to discover. She had a sweet tooth and never passed up the chance to enjoy coffee and a tasty treat.

One of her greatest joys was watching Kaitlyn dance over the years. She cherished every moment, especially the trips for dance competitions, finding so much happiness in planning each one. She also loved organizing holiday gatherings and meals, always looking forward to a home filled with laughter and loved ones.

Her loving family includes: husband of 28.5 years, Marlin; daughter, Kaitlyn Thorson; brother, Kevin (Sarah) Juergens; brothers-in-law, Rodney (Gisele) Thorson, Kevin Thorson, Keith Thorson, Rodger (Tina) Thorson; sister-in-law, Marlene Thorson; nieces, Reagan Juergens, Anna Craig, Cassie Rech, Breanna Loder; nephews, Paxton Juergens and Marvin Thorson-Pitsiladis; great nieces, Waverly and Lakyn Loder; great nephew, Jasper Rech; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Julie Juergens; her mother and father-in-law Marvin and Eloise Thorson; Grandparents and several aunts and uncles.

Funeral: Friday, February 14, 2025, at 11a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, Minot.

Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.

Visitation: Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Family Prayer Service: Thursday at 7 pm at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
