C. Charles “Chuck” Crankshaw Jr. was born on October 18, 1937 in Muskegon, Michigan and passed away peacefully at the age of 87 on November 13, 2024 surrounded by his family in Greenhurst, New York. Chuck was a loving son, cousin, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, friend and a devoted man of God with his strong faith and love for Jesus Christ. Chuck was an only child of Cecil & Bernice Crankshaw and grew up in Muskegan, MI. Chuck was a long time Minot, ND resident who retired from the US Air Force in 1984 as a highly decorated Master Sergeant after serving 25 years as a Defense Aerial Gunner, Aircrew Instructor and Flight Examiner. After retirement, Chuck spent 40 years enjoying life with his family and friends. He loved golfing, boating, water/snow skiing, fishing, hunting, restoring homes, bon fires, card games, and watching hockey and football. What brought Chuck the most joy was spending time with his family. He traveled across the country with the love of his life Cheri, visiting family any chance he could. During the last 3 years, Chuck lived in an assisted living residence where he immediately made many friends and was voted President of the Residents Council.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife Cheri of 59 years who he adored. Chuck is also survived by his children, Jeffrey Crankshaw, Julie (Scott) Witter, Scott (Patty) Crankshaw, and Jodie (Paul) Cartone, 13 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Charles Sr. and Bernice. His legacy of warmth, dedication, and integrity will be remembered by all who knew him.
