Minot

Arno Weber, 90, Minot, died Monday, February 3, 2025, at his home.

Arno Frank Weber was born August 6,1934 in Minot, ND the son of Frank Jr and Cecelia (Hoechst) Weber of Sawyer. He was raised in the Sawyer, Bergen, Voltaire, and Velva area. He graduated from Velva High School in 1953.

After high school he started working for Fisher Motors before joining the Army in 1957. He was stationed at White Sands, New Mexico for two years where he worked on the development of early drones and missiles. Ever the North Dakota boy, he returned and served in Active Reserves for two years, and two more years of Inactive Ready Reserve. He was trained at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas as an Automotive Maintenance Technician.

After the Army, he returned to work at Fisher Motors, and he also moonlighted as a Carpenter where he worked with his future father-in-law. He met the love of his life, Sharon Domino, at North Hill Bowl during league bowling with her father. When he first saw her, he thought, “she sure is pretty”.

Excited to start their life together, they were married at Augustana Lutheran Church on February 17th, 1962. They started their family and spent their first Christmas welcoming their first child. They welcomed three more children and loved them all dearly.

His hobbies were cars, coins, and building with wood. He built many things; he built Sharon a beautiful China Hutch for their 25th Wedding Anniversary as well as many other Treasured Pieces. During his life, he built a house, three garages, and remodeled several homes. He was the “Jack of All Trades and the Master of Most”. While at Fisher’s he studied and became a Master Automotive Technician, earning many awards and accolades. He retired from Fisher’s in 1997 after 44 years.

After retiring he moved to Sherwood Forest Resort in Minnesota as a Summerbird, he must have gotten bored because he started working as the Maintenance/Pool Guy for Sherwood Forest. Though he enjoyed many hobbies, his favorite activities were being a grandfather and great grandfather teaching them to fish, starting a proper fire, and driving the golf cart. He shared his knowledge with an abundance of patience and love.

Arno will always be remembered for his kindness and patience. We couldn’t have asked for a better husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, or uncle. Sharing his knowledge generously and always willing to help others in need is his legacy. We will miss him every day and his Memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.

Arno is survived by his Wife, Sharon Kay (Domino), daughter Lynnette (Gary) Long, Minot; son David (Karen) Weber, Minot; daughter Carrie (Phillip) Franklin, Montgomery, AL; Grandchildren – Joshua (Courtney) Long, Steven Weber, Kathleen Weber, Jaymee (Brandt) Doerr, Eric (Devon) Weber, Drew Long, and Dorian Franklin; Great Grandchildren – Jude, Anakin, and Destinee.
