Annette Georgine Dunseth (Butz), 86, Tolley, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, in her home, with her family by her side.
Annette was born on January 13, 1939, to Clarence and Gladys (Ness) Butz, of Tolley, ND. Annette’s childhood was filled with the joys of North Dakota farm life and family. In her adolescence, her family moved to Seattle, WA, where she would help at her family’s store, babysit her two younger sisters: Kathy and Rosalie, read books, and listen to bible stories on the radio. On her bus ride home from school, her stop let out in front of a drug store, where she would enjoy her favorite fountain drink, Green River Sodas. Annette graduated from Ballard High School, Seattle, in 1957.
Annette joined the Navy and began USN WAVES Boot Camp in June 1957. Beginning in Maryland, Annette’s time in the service sent her to Oregon, California, Virginia, New Jersey, Illinois, Hawaii, England, Germany, Seattle and North Dakota. Annette also served for the United States Army and Air Force. Annette enjoyed spending two years stationed on the main island of Oahu, at Naval Station Pearl Harbor and Schofield Army Base. Annette spoke most about her time in England, it being the reason for her enlistment and having her young daughters, Beth and Jennie, join her for a long visit during her active duty.

She had a love for dancing, roses, America and was passionate about the restoration of Minot’s Carousel. Annette was a member of MWAN (Military Women Across the Nation), The Sons of Norway, American Legion & Auxiliary, The National Carousel Association, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for over 40 years and loved and respected all her Brothers and Sisters in Christ.
Annette loved to travel. Having been across America, she spent time visiting family in Norway and cruising with her grandchildren. Annette, “Particularly enjoyed having her family close and will never stop loving them all.” Three things will last forever; faith, hope, and love, and the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:13
