Myrna G. Shelkey, 83, Minot, formerly of Upham, ND, died Saturday, January 4, 2025 in a Minot nursing home.

Myrna G. Mogard was born on February 10, 1941, a daughter of Clarence and Lillian (Grondahl) Mogard in Minot, ND. She was raised and educated in Upham.

She married Jule Brunsvold in 1959. This marriage later ended in divorce. She worked at the Anchor Inn and later the Birchwood Restaurant at Lake Metigoshe.

On June 8, 1986, Myrna was united in marriage to the love of her life, Dale Shelkey at Lake Metigoshe. Together they traveled with Kemper Construction, where Myrna worked alongside Dale, and cooked for the crew. They retired in 1994. In 1998, they moved to Minot. Dale died August 29, 2000.

Myrna was known for her homemade buns, breads, and caramel rolls. She may have also mixed drinks on a pontoon, played the piano and yodeled for her friends. Her favorite pastime was her flowers. She was a member of the New Hope Lutheran Church, Upham and sewed many quilts with the quilters.

Those who shared in her life: two daughters, Taryce (Ron) Olson Upham, and Mysti (Danny) Griswold New Hampshire. Her grandchildren Dee (Mike) Vanhove, Dylan Blada, Jordan Johnson, and Dallas Wolfe. Siblings: Myrtice Behan, Barb (Jeff) Mayer and Betty (Tim) Podoll. stepchildren: Dorothy Rogers, Frank (Nicki) Shelkey, Dayle Anne (Gary) Barnett, Layne (Charlotte) Shelkey, Patti Shelkey (Kevin Hanson), Laurene (Dennis) Ness, David (Cathy) Shelkey, Mary Shelkey, and Andy (Pam) Shelkey; Several step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins survive.

Myrna was preceded in death by her parents, sister Marianne Holen, brother in laws, John Behan and Don Andel, stepsons Neil Shelkey, Richard Rogers, grandsons, Loren Rogers, Rory Shelkey and Benjamin Shelkey, and great grandson Grantley Johnson.

Private family services will be held in June.
