Feb. 17, 1926-Dec. 29, 2024

Newburg

Janice Lorraine Schepp, 98, passed away on December 29, 2024 in Bottineau, ND. Her funeral will be on January 4, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., at Dovre Lutheran in Newburg, ND. Visitation will be held on Friday starting at 4:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.

Janice was born on February, 17th 1926 to Ray S. and Winifred (Fitch) Henderson in rural Sherwood, ND. She graduated from Sherwood High School in 1943, and she dedicated her life, not only to her family, but to her own education and the education of others.

Janice married Edwin Schepp of Minot, ND, on June 29th, 1947. They farmed in the rural Newburg area for several years when they were blessed with their 6 children. Edwin took additional jobs while Janice held down the fort tending to the children and the milk cows until 1961, when she resumed teaching. Janice retired in 1979, when she cared for Edwin until he passed away in 1982. She continued her own education by getting her Master’s degree, and again going back to share her gifts of educating others.

Janice always had a jar full of cookies for grandkids to grab a snack. She saw everything as a learning opportunity and she knew how to make it fun with her competitive spirit, her abundant kindness, and persistent optimism. Her presence was truly a gift.

Janice was survived by her children and daughters-in-law; Lynn Schepp, of Newburg, ND, Gary and Joyce Schepp, of Fargo, ND, Neil Schepp, of Lake Metigoshe, ND, Gene and Ruth Schepp, of Gardner, ND, Nancy Schepp, of Bottineau, ND, Lyle and Jerylyn Schepp, of Maxbass, ND, and Barb Rollie, Buffalo, MN, and her grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and some great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings and in-laws, and daughters-in-law; Martha Schepp, and Kim Schepp.

Arrangements were with Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau. Friends may sign the online register book at www.nerofuneralhome.net.
