Inez Gravesen, 95, Minot, formerly of Kenmare, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Trinity Hospital with family by her side.
Inez Jean Leet was born April 2, 1929, the daughter of Lalon Sr. and Grace (Odland) Leet, on the family farmstead 17 miles north of Norma, ND. She joined her three older brothers, Bill, Franklin, and Glen. While Inez was in the first grade, the family moved to Tolley, ND, where her three brothers graduated. Her family then moved to Kenmare in 1939, where she started her fifth-grade year and continued her education.
She married her one and only love, Floyd Gravesen, on June 29, 1947, in Kenmare. They made their home in Kenmare, where Inez worked for Browne Varity and Ben Franklin for six years. They were blessed with two children, Donald and Susan. Inez always had coffee and a fresh donut or butter horn roll for guests. Their home was a frequent gathering place for family and friends to “take a five.”
Inez and Floyd spent forty winters in Arizona and Texas and made many good motorcycle and fishing trips.
Floyd and Inez moved into Somerset Assisted Living in June of 2016. While at Somerset, Inez enjoyed participating in all activities. She enjoyed playing bingo, dressing up, participating in decorating contests, and having coffee parties. Inez knew everyone and loved to visit with residents and staff. Floyd passed away on November 15, 2017.
Her main hobby was photo books, having 59, later put into DVD’s by Floyd. She was an avid bowler and loved all sports. She attended many sporting events of her grandchildren and
great-grandchildren. She loved to cook and bake, and continued to do so at Somerset. She enjoyed putting on mock weddings, skits, tea parties, and staying touch with family and friends through Facebook and email.
Inez said the best time was spent with grandkids and family at the cabin at Mouse River Park. Floyd and her also enjoyed many trips to Alaska to visit family. She always referred to her grandchildren as her “5 little angels.”
“I had so much love for all my family, a special love for Donald and Susie. My family were all so very good to me.” -Inez.
Her loving family includes: daughter, Susan (Geoff) Webster, North Pole, AK; daughter-in-law, Cindy Nieland, Kenmare, ND; grandchildren, Jason (Gwen) Schammel, North Pole, AK, Crystal (Dean) Eide, Carpio, Amanda Gravesen, Grand Forks, Kelly (Laura) Gravesen, Decatur, GA; Ashley (Erickson Dehmer) Webster, North Pole, AK,great-grandchildren, Julienne Parker, Fairbanks, AK, Lauren and Ally Schammel, North Pole, AK, Riley (Miranda Voegele) Eide, Kenmare, Carter Eide, Carpio, Jaryn Sundby, Grand Forks, Tate and Hadley Gravesen, Decatur, GA, Rollin Dehmer, North Pole, AK; great-great-granddaughter, Roslynn Parker, Fairbanks, AK; sister-in-law, Shirley Nelson; Cindy’s daughters, Patty Brownell and family, Lois Johnson and family; Caddy Brekhus Family; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 70 years, Floyd; son, Donald; brothers, Bill, Franklin, and Glen; 12 sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; nieces, Shelly Dorgan and Donna Hardy; and nephews, Bob Hardy & Christopher Steinbaugh.
Memorial Service: Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Kenmare.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Kenmare.
Inurnment: Lakeview Cemetery, Kenmare, ND.
