Gloria Brinkman, 83, Minot died on Tuesday, at her home with her husband by her side. Gloria Jean was born on August 16, 1941, in Havre, MT to Simon and Bernice (Harrington) Purkett.
Gloria was raised and educated in Havre and was the 2nd youngest of 10 siblings. As a young adult she was employed at a local café and malt shop.Gloria was once married to Del Weber, and they had 3 children. They made their home in Minot where she was employed at Ellison’s, JCPenney and Sears Fine Jewelry Departments. Gloria moved to Woodland Hills CA in 1982 and continued in jewelry sales. Gloria married Gene Brinkman on February 15, 1986, at the John Ford Chapel on the Motion Picture grounds in Woodland Hills, CA.Gloria and Gene moved to Minot in 1989 and have operated the Downtown Antique Mall for many years. Gloria was a member of the Catholic Faith. She especially enjoyed jewelry, antiquing, quilting and spending time at the lake with her kids and grandkids and great grandkids.Gloria’s loving family includes her husband: Gene; children: Debbie (Reinaldo Jr.) Guitian, Mark (Bonnie) Weber and Jeri (Don) Warrenburg; (all Minot) stepchildren: Julie (Jeremy) Clark (Detroit MI) and Robin (Mike) Hammer (Los Angeles CA); grandchildren: Reinaldo III, Nicholas, and Josiah (Erid) Guitian, Alethea (Nick) Monley. Eric, Guy (Brayda) and Seth (Presley) Weber; step grandchildren: Brooke and Adam Hammer, Meghan, Dylan and Zachary Clark; great grandchildren: Kenleigh, Braya and Carson Monley, Avacyn and Quentin Guitian, Cove and Kit Weber. step great grandchildren: Makaiya Clark. Sister: Linda Preuninger and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.Gloria was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: parents: Simon and Bernice Purkett, Brothers: Sam (Sammy), Ronald (Ronnie), James (Jimmy) and George Purkett and sisters: Loraine (Slim) Rufatto, Lillie Gay (Tootie) Whitaker, Ollie May (Pinky) Guy, Geraldine (Geri) Nice.A Private Liturgy of the Word Service will be held at the Thomas Family Funeral Home Chapel – Minot.Interment will be in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery – rural Mandan.
Public Visitation: Monday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home -Minot.
