Douglas C. “Spanky” Frazier, 76, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2025 in a Minot hospital.

Doug was born on December 14, 1948 in Middlesboro, KY to Ola Reed. He gained the nickname “Spanky” at an early age due to his uncanny resemblance to Spanky from Our Gang.

He was raised in the hollers around Frakes, KY and graduated from Henderson Settlement High School. In 1968, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, beginning a 21-year career in aircraft maintenance. He served two tours in Vietnam and later became a B-52 crew chief. After retiring from the military, he worked for over 20 years in a civilian position in helicopter maintenance at Minot AFB.

Doug was once married to Jane Frazier. They had two children, Douglas Jr and Dena. Later he found his partner for the rest of his life in Tammy Kloehn.

Doug’s main interest was always cars. He owned his 1966 Chevelle SS for 42 years. He raced at Nodak Speedway for several years in the 1980s and was an original member of the Dakota Cruisers Car Club, serving on the board at times.

Doug is survived by his children Doug (Clarice) Frazier, Burlington and Dena Santariga, Jacksonville, NC; grandchildren Tristen Santariga, Cassidy Santariga, Ashten Frazier, Corinna (Nathan George) Santariga, Ariel Frazier and Joshua Frazier; longtime partner Tammy Kloehn, Minot and her children Nikki Gray, Minot and Mike Emly, Minot and her grandchildren Logan, Anna, Donte, Ben, Rhyley and Aniyah.

Doug was preceded in death by his mother and stepdad, Jim Hickman.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025 at The Moose Lodge in Minot from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM concluding with military honors.
