Dolores Lendvoy
Nov. 15, 1936-Jan. 24, 2025
Harvey
Dolores Ruth (Robinson) Lendvoy, 88, Minot, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 24, 2025 in a Harvey Nursing Care Facility.
Dolores was born on November 15, 1936 in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, Canada. She led a life filled with love, dedication and cherished moments. Dolores spent her early years on a farm with her parents, James and Elsie (Kolke) Robinson and brother, Wayne. The family relocated to Frobisher, Saskatchewan, where she developed a deep connection with her maternal grandmother. Sundays were joyfully spent with family, making music and creating lifelong bonds. At school, she excelled in sports, setting records and making her mark.
As a teen, Dolores began working in the local restaurant and hotel, where she met the love of her life, Joseph “Joe” Lendvoy. They were married on October 15, 1955 and built a beautiful life together, raising their 4 children, Brian, Nola, Rick and Lorrie.
The family’s numerous moves followed the oil industry through Southern Saskatchewan and Manitoba and a major move to Australia in 1963. Eventually, they settled in Minot, where they purchased the Ho Hum Motel in 1967. Seven years later they sold the motel and made a permanent home on the south edge of Minot.
A devoted mother, Dolores, found immense joy in raising her children and caring for others. She was known for her warmth, kindness and incredible cooking. Her potato salad was a potluck favorite, and her shortbread cookies brought holiday cheer. She loved music, flowers and books by Lauraine Snelling and Janette Oke. Though not an avid fisher like Joe, she graciously joined many family fishing trips to Pelican Narrows in Saskatchewan.
During retirement, Dolores and Joe became U.S. citizens in 1993 and enjoyed winters in Alamo, Texas, where she enjoyed crafting projects and new friendships. She attended Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Brethren Church and volunteered with the American Red Cross and AARP Tax-Aide services locally. Her husband, Joe died on September 3, 1999. Dolores cherished her time with family and friends, especially her grandsons, Brady and Ben, who brought her immense pride and joy.
Dolores’ loving family includes her children, Brian, Rick and Lorrie Lendvoy all of Minot and daughter, Nola (Malcolm) Kendall, Carievale, Saskatchewan; grandsons, Brady & Ben Kendall; brother, Wayne Robinson and sister-in-law, Shirley Witzke; several nieces, one nephew and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of 43 years, Joe, sister-in-law, Shirley Robinson, and brother-in-law, Richard Witzke.
