Daniel Craig Haugen, 51 of Devils Lake passed away on Friday, January 17, 2025, at his home.
Daniel Haugen, son of Rodger and Connie (Berg) Haugen was born September 27, 1973, in Minot, North Dakota. He grew up in Minot and attended grade school there. When the family moved to Devils Lake he attended schools there. Dan also lived at New Outlooks Home learning valuable skills for independent living after graduation. While in High School, Dan was involved in DECA and became an avid supporter of the basketball teams. Dan graduated from Devils Lake High School in 1995. Dan participated in various activities. He attended Elks Camp Grassick. He was involved in Special Olympics basketball and bowling. He competed in Team USA Special Olympics Bowling on one occasion. Dan later bowled in a Men’s League with his dad, where he met many lifelong friends. Dan was a 32-year employee of the First Community Credit Union. He took immense pride in his career and his fellow employees. Dan also worked part time at the Fireside Inn and Suites. Dan had many wonderful support people that made his dreams of independence possible. Dan enjoyed being active in his community. He was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church where he was an usher, participated in Men’s Club activities and assisted with Youth Choir for many years. He was a member of the Devils Lake Elks. He walked many years in Relay for Life with Rodger Walkers. Dan will be remembered as an avid sports fan. He loved cheering on the Firebirds, Twins and Vikings. Dan is survived by his father Rodger; brother and wife Jeffrey and Rosella Haugen of Fargo, children Raissa and Randal; sister and husband Allison and Kyle Ternes of Devils Lake, children Taylor, Alexis, Andrew, and Trinity; aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.He was preceded in death by his mother Connie, grandparents Wendell and Frances Haugen, Arthur and Thora Berg. Memorials may be directed to the stained-glass window fund at St. Olaf Lutheran Church. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church. Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
