Annette Lohn, 93, Minot, passed peacefully on Sunday, January 5, 2025, in a Minot hospital.
Annette Elizabeth was born on May 22, 1931 in Rugby, ND to Arthur and Calma (Olson) Ellingson. She was raised and educated in Rugby, graduated from Rugby High School in 1949 and attended college for a brief time in Minneapolis, MN. As a young adult she returned to Rugby where she was employed as a bookkeeper at Rugby Creamery until 1954.
Annette married Kermit Lohn on August 15, 1954 in Rugby. They made their home in Mohall where they purchased Foss Jewelers and the local variety store. They owned and operated the business until moving to Minot in 1968. She was then employed as a bookkeeper with Greengard-Cranston until the store closed and she retired. Kermit died on November 20, 2008.
Annette was a member of the First Lutheran Church- Minot, Order of Eastern Star, VFW Auxiliary and as a Rainbow Girl she received the Grand Cross of Colors. She especially enjoyed doing crafts, embroidery, painting and bird watching and you could often find her out in the garden tending her plants and flowers.
Annette’s loving family includes her children: Steven (Linda) Lohn of West Fargo, Merrie (Dan) Council of Lodi, WI and Linda (Mike) Slind of Roseglen; grandchildren: Emily and Lisa Council and Bryce (Johanna) and Brandon Slind; great grandchildren: Linora and Melvin; brother: Charles (Bonnie) Orvik and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Annette was preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings: Henry, Charlotte and Gary.
Celebration of the Life of Annette Lohn: Friday, January 10, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot. A videorecording of the service will be available starting on Saturday using the link in the website obituary.
Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot
Visitation: One hour prior to the service in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials are preferred to First Lutheran Church.
