Ronald “Ron” Tribitt, 69, Minot, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at Trinity hospital, with family by his side.
Ron was born on May 3, 1955, to Donald and Shirley (Smith) Tribitt. He was raised and educated in Minot, graduating from Minot High School in 1974. Ron briefly attended Wahpeton Technical Trade School, focusing on autobody courses.
Ronald enjoyed horseback riding with his family in younger years. He was a member of Mouse River Horseman’s Association and Minot Trail Riders. He enjoyed trail riding with his family on his pinto horse named Ringo. Animals had a special place in Ron’s heart, and he cared for several over the years. He was especially fond of his basset hounds Lady and Bubba.
Ronald was once united in marriage to Carol Wright. They remained close friends up to her passing in 2016.
Ron’s caring nature was evident in the many years he worked in the service industry. Early on, he worked odd jobs, including lawn care and family care. For over 35 years, Ronald helped plant and tend the flowers at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in downtown Minot. Throughout his life, he aided in the care of his great-grandparents, grandparents, parents and former spouse. His kindness made him an exceptional caregiver and a blessing to his family during difficult times. Ron’s way with people led him to a position at the Milton Young and Henry Towers in Minot for many years caring for those in need in a number of ways.
Ron worked the graveyard shifts at Harley’s Arrowhead and Mini Mart. He later worked day shifts for Taxi 9000, retiring from there after a decade of knowing the “best routes” to places. He genuinely enjoyed the interactions he had with customers, with people often stopping by just to visit him.
Ron also enjoyed car racing. He enjoyed attending the NODAK races in Minot and the Knoxville Nationals in Iowa. His love of the sport included making race themed coffee mugs and model cars, while watching NASCAR on tv.
For more than half his life, Ronald was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where he was confirmed. Ronald also carried a membership to First Baptist Church. He was currently a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and had been attending there for the past several years.
His surviving family includes brother Robert Tribitt, Grimes, IA and sister Renee (Craig Bloms) Tribitt, Minot, ND; nieces Ashley (Brian) Hampton, Newark, DE and Danielle Bloms, Minot, ND and several great nephews and nieces. Ronald is also survived by family members of his former spouse.
Ronald was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, grandparents, and parents Donald Tribitt and Shirley (Smith) Tribitt and former wife Carol (Wright) Tribitt.
