Ronald V. Painter, 90, Minot, ND, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2024, in his home.

Ronald Vance Painter was born October 25, 1934, the son of Harley “Jack” and Hazel (Mills) Painter in Asheville, North Carolina.

He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1953. He was stationed at various bases in New York, Texas, Minnesota, Illinois, France, and Florida. He was then stationed at Minot Air Force Base until 1965, then Beale Air Force Base in California, and then he returned to Minot Air Force Base in 1972 with the KC135 tanker branch. While in the Air Force he served numerous combat missions overseas. He retired from the Air Force in 1974. He was then employed at the U.S. Post Office until his retirement in 1995. He then started his “fun” job of delivering flowers for Flower Central.

While stationed at Minot Air Force Base, Ron met the love of his life, Ardis “Ardy” A. Jacobson in 1960. They were united in marriage on October 14, 1961, in Minot, ND. They made their home in Minot where they raised their two daughters.

He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, where he was a Confirmation mentor, usher and served on several boards. He was a past president of the Minot Golden “K” Club. He was associated with Minot Masonic Lodge, active in the Norsk Hostfest as Hall Chairman of Stockholm Hall for many years and volunteered for Trinity Hospital. He was an avid golfer and reader.

Ron loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Time with his family was incredibly important to him.

His loving family includes: wife of 63 years, Ardy; daughters, Kim (George) Withus, and Kristi (Shannon Radke) Painter; grandchildren, Fallon-Ann (Jordan) Berube, and Kyle (Jessica) DuPuis; great-grandchildren, Mason DuPuis, Ledger Berube, and Henley Berube; and numerous nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, William Painter.

Visitation: Sunday, December 8, 2024, from 1 to 3 pm, Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Funeral: Monday, December 9, 2024, 10:30 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, Minot.

Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot, ND.

Memorials: are preferred to Christ Lutheran Church, Minot.
