Rick Bartsch, 61, Minot, ND, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loved ones following a courageous battle against cancer.
Rick Alan Bartsch was born October 3, 1963, the son of Theodore Bartsch and Vonda (Dunn) Rubbelke, in Minot. He was raised and educated in Minot, graduating from Bishop Ryan Catholic School in 1981. He furthered his education by attending college in Grand Forks, ND.
He left college to enlist in the United States Navy, and proudly served his country from 1987 until 1991 in California on the ship called USS Belleau Wood.
After his time in the military, Rick returned to Minot, where he worked locally. In September of 1993, he met the love of his life, Gina Horn, and they have been together for 31 years along with their blooming relationship Rick got a bonus daughter, Shawna, who he loved and adored like his own from the beginning. On October 18, 1994, Rick and Gina welcomed their daughter, Breanna, into their growing family. Then on August 22, 2001, they welcomed their son, Brenden. Their family was now complete. Rick loved his family above all else. Rick loved being a grandpa to his five beautiful grandchildren who were the light of his life, Peyton (13), Gage (9), Cooper (7), Greyson (7), and little Easton (5). He loved every minute with them, just hanging out, going places, holidays or family vacations.
Rick loved watching hockey and football, especially his favorite team the Cowboys. He also loved to attend his children and grandchildren’s sporting events. Rick had a passion for traveling. He enjoyed visiting Florida, Missouri, and Vegas several times a year. Rick loved to surprise Gina with a trip every Christmas.
Rick was the most loving, caring person that would do anything for anybody. His family was his pride and joy. He also loved his Missouri family; the Falder’s, Fisk’s, and Judy Lyons, who were a huge part of his life.
Rick adored all his family and friends. He appreciated all the love and support during this journey from each and every one of them.
His loving family includes: significant other of 31 years, Gina Horn; children, Shawna (Kelly) Flom, Breanna Dunn, and Brenden Horn; grandchildren, Peyton, Gage, and Cooper Flom, Greyson and Easton Dunn; mother, Vonda (Dunn) Rubbleke; sister, Kari (Mark) Bachler; mother-in-law, Katherine Horn; father-in-law, Tracy (Kandis) Horn; sisters-in-law, Crystal (Scott) Schmidt, and Tammy (Gabe) Good; brother-in-law, Daniel Horn; his loving extended family, the McKinney’s and the Fadler’s; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Rose Bartsch; and John and Elva Dunn; his father, Theodore Bartsch; and mother-in-law, Maryland Horn.
Memorial Service: Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. at The Pursuit Church, Minot.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.
