Barbara Elaine Ressler, 74, Minot, died Sunday, December 15, 2024 in the Benedictine Living Community in Garrison, ND.
Barb was born January 9, 1950, in Britton, SD to Kenneth and Elaine (Lammers) Quarve. She lived there for a short time before her family moved between Devils Lake, Fargo, and Mandan, ND. She graduated from Mandan High School in 1968 where she played the clarinet in the band, was on the cheerleading squad, and chosen for the homecoming court. She went on to attend North Dakota State University where she joined the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. During the summers, she worked at S & K Dairy Queen in Mandan, ND.
Barb married Wilbert (Willie) Ressler on June 4, 1971, at Christ the King Roman Catholic Church in Mandan, ND. They lived in Hettinger, ND together for one year before settling in Minot. Barb worked in Hettinger at Fitterer Drug Store. Barb then transferred to Minot State University where she completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Business with a Minor in Speech in 1973. She taught adult education classes through Minot Public Schools and then worked as a legal secretary for Farhart, Rasmuson, Lian and Maxson Law Firm. Barb then stayed home to raise their daughter, Mandy. Barb kept busy volunteering for the Trinity Health Auxiliary, Artfest, PTA, and for the Magic City Figure Skating Club. Barb later worked several summers for the North Dakota State Fair Treasurer’s Office. After Barb became a grandma, she babysat her twin grandchildren and enjoyed attending all their activities.
Barb was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Homemaker’s Club, Panera Bread Coffee Group, and a founding member of the local ladies DEA group (Domestic Engineers of America).
Barb’s family includes her husband Willie; daughter: Mandy (Jon) Hussey, Minot; grandchildren Connor and Eva Hussey; sister Candy (Darryl) Ash, Rochester, MN; sister-in-law Deb (Curt) Simonson, Grand Rapids, MN; brother-in-law Ray (Ida) Ressler, Mandan, ND; sisters-in-law Sally Hutton, Rapid City, SD, Marlene Kraft, Bismarck, ND, Glorine (Larry) Barnhardt, Ajijic, Jalisco, Mexico and Maureen (Wayne) Renz, Ajijic, Jalisco, Mexico; 26 nieces and nephews and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents; brother Michael Quarve; father-in-law and mother-in-law Joseph and Catherine (Volk) Ressler; brothers-in-law Edward Ressler, Leo Ressler, Theodore Ressler, George Ressler, and Emanuel (Lorraine) Ressler; sisters-in-law Luella Bearman and Alvina (Edward) Sakoff and nephew Peter Bullinger.

Visitation: Friday, December 20th from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
