Alfred “Al” Ronglien, 88, Minot, ND, passed away Friday, December 6, 2024, at Trinity Hospital in Minot.
Alfred Helmer Ronglien Jr. was born June 23, 1936, the son of Alfred and Cora (Asleson) Ronglien, in Hartland, ND. He was raised and educated in Hartland.
He enlisted in the United States Army on February 25, 1954, and was honorably discharged February 21, 1957.
He married the love of his life, Janice Williams on July 18, 1957, in Williston. They made their home in Minot and were blessed with three children, Cheri, Glen and Darla. They enjoyed 55 loving years of marriage until Janice passed away on October 21, 2012.
Alfred was a truck driver for many years for Monarch Concrete followed by Lowboy Service until going to work for Gravel Products for the next 35 years until his retirement.
He was a member of the American Legion.
He and his wife took great pride in their yard and could be found taking advantage of any spare moment they had to create the perfect backyard to enjoy with their family. When he wasn’t outside tending to the grass or helping in the flowerbeds, Al could be found in his favorite recliner watching Nascar or football either by himself or with one or more grandkids curled up with him. Al loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and never turned down the opportunity to spend time with them. He also loved to shoot pool and go hunting and fishing. In his later years, he moved to The View where he was able to start each day of the next three years until his passing with his two granddaughters that work there and his love of gardening continued as he helped take care of the landscaping and making sure all of the bird feeders were kept filled.
His loving family includes: children, Glen (Deb) Ronglien, Detroit Lakes, MN, and Darla Juma, Stanley, ND; grandchildren, Amanda (Josh) Anfinson, Craig (Denielle) Ronglien, Heather (Jared) Mongeon, Bobbie (Craig) Seals, Christine Juma; great-grandchildren, Mason Anfinson, Odin Anfinson, Chase Ronglien, Hudson Mongeon, Tenleigh Mongeon, Jazmin Seals, Abby Seals; brother, Donny Ronglien; sister, Dee Lubanski; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 55 years, Janice; daughter, Cheri Ronglien; sisters, Mary Ellen Atkinson, Dawn Huso, Barb Storud; brother-in-law, John Huso; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Ronglien.
Funeral: Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot, ND.
Visitation: Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
