Our beloved brother, David M. Garcia, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2024 in Minot, North Dakota, at the age of 74. He was born on March 20, 1950 in Alice, Texas to Julio and Lillie Garcia. David will be missed by all.
David was a graduate of H.M. King High School in Kingsville, Texas, Class of 1968. During this time, David earned the rank of Eagle Scout with Troop 186. He went on to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Texas A&I University in Kingsville, Texas. David was a founding member and past president of the Phi Kappa Theta fraternity at A&I. After college graduation, David proceeded to be employed by the Department of Defense, being stationed in Oklahoma, Colorado, Japan, Iceland, and finally Minot, North Dakota where he retired after 36 years of service. David was a proud member of St. Therese, Church of the Little Flower in Minot. David enjoyed woodworking and traveling overseas.
David is survived by his brothers Benjamin Garcia (Rosalinda) of Corpus Christi, Texas, Joel Garcia (Jennifer) of San Antonio, Texas, and Julian Aram Garcia of Killeen, Texas, as well as nieces and a nephew. He also leaves his dearest friends, Beatrice Grasmoen of Minot, North Dakota, Jo Jones of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Jeanne Artz of Minot, North Dakota.
David is preceded in death by his parents, Julio and Lillie Garcia and sister Nelia Lydiz Garcia.
David’s love, faith, and compassion will be remembered by all who knew him, often referred to as “a great man.” He will be dearly missed but forever in our hearts.
A sincere “thank you” goes out to the staff of Trinity Health Hospital, Edgewood Vista Assisted Living and Trinity Nursing Home, all of Minot, North Dakota, for their loving care of our brother.
