Daniel J. Reinhard, 72, Minot, his soul departed from this Earth after his final courageous battle with cancer, Saturday, November 2, 2024, in Garrison, ND.
Daniel J. Reinhard was born on December 12, 1951, in Cheshire, Connecticut, first son and fifth sibling to Harold and Lorraine (Brennan) Reinhard. He was raised on a small family vegetable farm in Cheshire with his six sisters and three brothers. Alongside his siblings, Daniel worked the fields of the family farm. He attended school in Cheshire, Connecticut.
He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in March of 1971, and proudly served until his retirement with the rank of Master Sergeant in October of 1993. While serving there were many assignments; Thailand during the Vietnam War, Germany and several other states including North Dakota while serving at the Minot Air Force Base. He performed duties as a Master Aircraft Electronics Communications Technician, Master Instructor in Field training detachments and finally as First Sergeant. His awards include Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, and Air Force Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster.
Daniel married LeAnn on February 12, 1982, and was blessed with three children.
After retirement from the Air Force, he started his own contracting company and also worked as a Structures Technician at the 5th Civil Engineering Squadron at the Minot Air Force Base, where he retired in 2013.
The most difficult events in his life were the losses of his youngest brother, Kevin and his oldest son, Daniel.
He was a devout Christian and spent many hours studying his Bible, always trying to keep God and Jesus Christ as the central focus of his life.
He enjoyed the many camping trips to various ND parks. He especially enjoyed water skiing and fishing with family and friends. He was a very skilled woodworker and built many high-quality pieces for his family, friends, and customers.
He talked to everyone, there were simply no strangers and struck up conversations everywhere he went. He will be remembered as an incredibly kind and warm person.
He will be deeply missed by his wife of 42 years, LeAnn ; children, Colleen (Jeff) Foote, Meriden, CT and Christopher Reinhard, Minot; grandchildren, Forrest Reinhard, Jillian Foote, and Taylor Reinhard; brothers, Timothy (Patty) Reinhard, Terry Reinhard; sisters, Maureen (Richard) Schwab, Kathleen Flynn, Sharlene Amico, Meta (Ardan Caron) Reinhard, Laureen (Darrin) Peck; brother-in-law, David Mackmeekin; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Daniel, Jr.; brother, Kevin Reinhard; sister, Colleen Macmeekin; brothers-in-law, William Flynn, and Anthony Amico.
Visitation: Thursday, November 7, 2024, from 3:00 p.m., until 5:00 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
Graveside Service: Friday, November 8, 2024, 11:00 a.m., at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
