Betty Peterson, 89, Minot, formerly of Carpio, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at Trinity Hospital.

Betty Yvonne Jones was born September 4, 1935, the daughter of Herman and Bertha (Blodgett) Jones, in Denbigh. She was raised and educated in Granville, graduating from high school in 1953.

She married Marvin Peterson on October 29, 1953, in Minot. They made their home in Carpio, where she became a homemaker and raised six children. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She was very involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren, attending their sporting events and other activities. Marvin passed away January 15, 2009.

Betty was a member of Carpio Lutheran Church, where she was involved in the women’s activities. She was known as a great cook and baker, always having goodies on hand.

She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Her loving family includes: children, Vickie (David) Pankratz, Burlington, ND, Douglas (Carrie) Peterson, Carpio, ND, Nancy (Leo) Mora, Groveland, CA, and Patty (Paul) Bloms, Foxholm, ND; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Charlotte Sharr, Cottage Grove, OR; sister-in-law, Helen Peterson, Berthold, ND; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 55 years, Marvin; sons, William “Bill” Peterson, Neil Peterson; brothers, Eugene (Theresa) Jones, William “Billy” Jones; and sister, Hazel “Pauline” (Walter) Lindquist.

At her request, no formal memorial service will take place.

Visitation: Monday, September 16, 2024, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot. Memorials are preferred to the Carpio Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund.
