Dwaine Daniel Kauffman, 83, Rural Minot, died Wednesday, August 7, 2024 in a Minot hospital.

Dwaine was born May 22, 1941 in Minot, ND, the son of Harold and Wilma (Kropf) Kauffman. He was raised and educated in Nedrose Township of Ward County. He attended schools at Nedrose, Surrey and Heston, Kansas, where he graduated in 1959.

He then returned to the family farm where he assisted with and later took over the operation of the dairy farm.

Dwaine was united in marriage to Sherry Hochstetler on April 9, 1966 in Wolford, ND. They made their home at the family farm, where they raised registered Holsteins and farmed. They were blessed throughout the years with five children. They also were foster parents for eight years to many children. They retired from their dairy operation and farming in 2008.

Dwaine was a member of Fairview Mennonite Church in Surrey, where he had served on the Church Council. He was also a member of the ND and Ward County Dairy Herd Improvement Association, the ND Holstein Association and Mouse River Genealogy Society. He enjoyed reading, traveling, attending the Minot Symphony and collecting model trains. He and Sherry traveled many miles to visit cemeteries and chase trains.

His loving family includes, wife of 58 years, Sherry; children, Orlin (Debbie) Kauffman, Minot, Sherilyn Abrahamson, Minot, Karilyn (Kevin) Killmer, Goshen, IN, Marlin (Kari) Kauffman, Kalispell, MT, Marilyn (Sean) Kelly, Kalispell, MT; 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; siblings, Verla (Melford) Haas, Alberta, Canada, Wayne (Donna) Kauffman, Archibald, OH, Dwight (Trella) Kauffman, Harrisonburg, PA, Elton (Esther) Kauffman, Alberta, Canada; sister in law, Carol Kauffman, Annville, PA; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dwaine was preceded in death by his parents; son in law, Jeff Abrahamson; brother, Dennis and twin-sisters, Zolla and Zella Kauffman.

Funeral service: Thursday, August 15, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in Bible Fellowship Church, Minot. A livestream of the service can be viewed by going to https://www.youtube.com/@minotbiblefellowship1057/streams.

Interment: Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in Fairview Mennonite Cemetery, Surrey

Visitation: Wednesday, August 14th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot. Prayer Service following.

Memorials in lieu of flowers or plants are preferred to the Fairview Cemetery Fund.
