L. Dennis Crawford—75, Minot, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2024 in his home.
Lowell Dennis Crawford known as Dennis was born on October 17, 1948 to Lowell M. and Margaret Susan (Brown) Crawford in Minot, ND. He was raised on a ranch in Denbigh, ND, with his seven siblings, Ronald, Tom, Cindy, Michael, Diane, Keith, and Marianne. Dennis attended school at Denbigh Elementary School until it closed in 1959. He then attended Towner High School, graduating in 1966. While in high school, Dennis worked on the Espeseth Farm. After graduation he attended Wahpeton State for auto mechanics and graduated in 1968.
Following graduation, Dennis was employed at Lake Chevrolet in Devils Lake, ND. While living in Devils Lake Dennis met his wife, Brenda Carter. They were married on August 2, 1975 in Devils Lake. They were blessed with a daughter, Nicole Susan in 1980 and son, Cory Craig on their tenth anniversary in 1985.
In 1975, their family moved to Bisbee, ND while Dennis worked at a local repair shop until 1977. They then moved to Minot where Dennis was employed with Jim Ryan Chevrolet until 1978.He started working for the City of Minot as a mechanic until his retirement in 2008. Dennis was not one to sit around during retirement and started working for Jim Ryan again for a couple years as a courtesy driver.
Dennis enjoyed tinkering in the garage on mechanical projects. Dennis and Brenda loved to cruise around in their 1950 Plymouth and were a part of the Dakota Cruisers Car Club.
Dennis is survived by:
Wife of 48 years, Brenda, Minot;
Children, Nicole Susan (Jesse Turner) and Cory Craig, both of Minot;
Siblings, Ronald (Linda) Crawford, Burnsville, MN, Tom Crawford, Elisabeth, CO, Cindy Orr, Elisabeth, CO, Michael (Jane) Crawford, Gilbert, AZ, Diane (Rob) Eaton, Indianapolis, IN, Keith Crawford, Fargo, ND, and Marianne (John) Wirtz, Minot, ND; brother-in-law, Brent Carter; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Irma Carter; father-in-law, Duane Carter; and brothers-in-law, Craig Orr, Craig Carter, and Sam Carter.
Memorial Service: Saturday, July 27, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service.
