Ronald “Ron” Erven

Sept. 21, 1950-Jan. 27, 2024

Minot

Ronald “Ron” Erven, 73, Minot, died Saturday, January 27th, 2024 in a Minot hospital.

Ron was born on September 21st, 1950 in Rugby, ND to Walter and Ethel (Harrington) Erven. He attended a small country schoolhouse outside of Bantry, McHenry County, ND. When the school closed, he went to Upham school through the 8th grade.

Ron was united in marriage, March 10, 1973 to Patricia Sapp at the First Lutheran Church in Bottineau, ND. To this union five children were born: Jenny, Geri Lynn, Byron, Maggie and Crystal.

Ron was truly a jack of all trades, working in Fuel Energies, Transportation, and Management. In his spare time Ron enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling and enjoying his family. Ron had a great ability to make conversation with anyone he met, no one was ever a stranger very long.

He was a people person through and through. A handshake was all Ron needed to measure a man, if he felt it wasn’t to his standards, he would be polite and be on his way. Family was very important to him, he would have loved to have held his newest great grandchild due this spring.

Ron is survived by his wife of almost 51 years, Pat Erven, Minot; children, Jenny (Brian) Thorstensen, Mountain House, California, Geri Lynn (Scott) Erven-Beede, Minot, Byron Erven, Minot, Maggie (Jason Jenson) Erven, Minot and Crystal Quiring, Minot; 12 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marilyn Erven, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Roger Erven; Sisters, Florence (Virgil) Dahlberg and Janice (Ronald) Wagner; grandson, Garret Beede; nephew, Alan Wagner and niece, Susan Dahlberg.

No services will be held at this time.
