Carol Johnson, 78, Minot, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at a Minot assisted living facility.

Carol Hahn was born on December 31, 1944, a daughter of Herbert and Olga (Estenson) Hahn in Bottineau, ND. She was raised and educated in Gardena, graduating from Gardena High School in 1962. She furthered her education by attending Bottineau College and Minot State College earning a Bachelors of Science Degree in Computer Science.

On June 6, 1964, Carol was united in marriage to Leslie Johnson at Zion Lutheran Church in Gardena. The couple traveled the world as Leslie was serving in the United States military. Four sons were born to this union Lance, James, Todd, and Dan. The couple divorced in 1977.

Carol worked within the healthcare industry, beginning at American College of Surgeons in Chicago, IL, before transferring to National Cancer Institute. She was instrumental in her field of expertise and assisted in writing several textbooks, codes and policies that are still in practice today. Carol retired in 2018, and returned to Minot.

She enjoyed doing research, reading and spending time with her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend and will be missed by all that knew her.

Carol is survived by:

Sons Lance (Georgia) Johnson, James (Karla) Johnson, Todd (Sandra) Johnson and Dan (Vanessa) Johnson; grandchildren: Heather, Dakota, Cory, Michael, Nina, Danielle, Korina, Victoria, Maddie and Gabbie; four great-grandchildren; two siblings Stanford (June) Hahn, and Beverly Zorn; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter Sarah, two brothers Gordon (Joan) Hahn, Myron (Jean) Hahn and a brother-in-law Alec Zorn.

Visitation: There will be no reviewal, as cremation has taken place, however, friends may sign a guest register on Sunday, December 10, 2023 from 2-4 p.m.

Memorial Service: Monday, December 11, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Chapel, Minot

Burial: A private family committal service will take place at a later date.
