Mary Rioux, 96, Minot, ND, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2023, at Trinity Nursing Home.

Mary Catherine Sauter was born Nov. 11, 1926, the daughter of August and Catherine (Dillon) Sauter, in Jersey City, New Jersey. She was raised and educated in Jersey City, New Jersey. She graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing in 1949. She held various charge nurse positions in medical, surgical, obstetrical, and psychiatric nursing. She was a Civil Nurse Corps volunteer in Harford, Connecticut. Mary was employed as office nurse for Minot Private Psychiatric Clinic LTD. She retired from T.M.C. as night supervisor in a long-term care facility after working there for 14 years. She became the Parish Nurse at Little Flower Catholic church in 1994. Mary held a license in New Jersey, Connecticut, and North Dakota, as a Registered Nurse.

Mary married Dr. Berchmans Rioux in Jersey City on May 5, 1951. They were blessed with four sons, Paul, Pierre, Jean-Marie, and Mark, and one daughter, Mary Claire. Dr. Berchmans passed away Oct. 9, 2002.

She was a member of A.N.A. and P.T.A. She volunteers for Red Cross Vista Reading Program and Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed gardening, needlepoint, reading & traveling.

Her loving family includes: children, Paul Rioux, Denver, CO, Dr. Pierre Rioux, Austin, MN, Mark (Amy) Rioux, Denver, CO, Mary Claire (Mike) Jaeger, Circle Pines, MN; grandchildren, Sean & Jason Circle Pines, MN; great-grandchild, Dadrian, Circle Pines, MN She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 51 years, Dr. Berchmans Rioux; son, Jean-Marie Rioux; sister, Catherine Sauter.

Liturgy of the Word Service: Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Thompson-Larson Chapel, Minot.

Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.

Memorials: are preferred to Trinity Nursing Home.
