Mark Thorson
August 27, 1962-April 22, 2023
Scottsdale, Ariz.
Mark Richard Thorson, 60, of Scottsdale, AZ passed away peacefully on April 22, 2023. Mark was born in Huron, SD but grew up in Minot, ND.
Mark was born on August 27, 1962, to Richard and Lois (Reiquam) Thorson. The neighborhood Mark grew up in was full of woods, fields and a river. He loved the outdoors and was rarely home during the summer days of his childhood. Mark remained an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout his life.
Mark graduated from Minot High School in 1980 then moved to Arizona to pursue a degree in architecture at ASU. While attending ASU, Mark met his future wife Terri McCormick and the two were married in 1990. In 2000, they welcomed a beautiful daughter, Lindsay, who Mark cherished more than the world itself.
Mark was a man of adventure. He loved spending summers in Munds Park, AZ or on the beach with his family. He passed down his love for nature to his daughter and loved nothing more than spending time with her traveling, hiking, and enjoying photography.
He established a career working in manufacturing engineering, kitchen design and cabinetry. Mark was a wonderful husband, father, and friend above all else. He is remembered for his great sense of humor, integrity, and caring spirit. He could always be counted on for support and guidance.
He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Mark is survived by his wife, Terri, their daughter Lindsay, his sister Melissa (Darryl) Jouett of Cincinnati, OH, brother Jon (Leslie) Thorson of Longmont, CO, and six nieces and nephews. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Lois Thorson of Minot, ND.
A memorial service will be held at Messinger Mortuary Scottsdale on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The Gray Matters Foundation and Barrow Neurological Foundation to honor Mark. The Thorson Family wishes to thank both organizations for all the time they spent with Mark and the incredible care they provided in the final years of his life.
