Gary Wentz

Gary R. Wentz, 73,

passed away at his home

in Grand Forks, ND, on

Sunday, February 27,

2022.

Gary was born Sep-

tember 11, 1948, in Rug-

by, ND, the son of Pius

and Ottilia Wentz. His

family moved to Minot

when he was in the 7th

grade, graduating from

Minot High School. He at-

tended UND where he re-

ceived a MA LAC.

Gary loved his family of

origin above all. He was

very perceptive and intel-

ligent. He found maturity

and purpose through the

12 Steps of AA. He was

due to get his 38-year

sobriety Medallion this

March.

His work with addiction

counseling was very im-

portant to him until he

had to retire because of

his progressive blindness

from RP (retinitis pigmen-

tosa). His huge heart final-

ly gave out.

Gary is survived by his

wife, Ellen; son, Aaron; si-

blings, Mary Ann Hubert,

Queensbury NY, Ron

(Margaret) Wentz, Marys-

ville, WA, Anne (Warren)

Trangsrud, Scottsdale AZ,

Carol Moller, Minot ND,

Dwight (Deb) Wentz,

Minot ND, Kevin (Ranae)

Sanders, Minot ND and

several nieces and

nephews.

He was preceded in

death by his daughter,

Anello; parents; sister,

Judy Sanders;

brothers-in-law, Buzz Hu-

bert and George Moller;

nephew Jacob Hubert and

niece Lauren Kettel.

Memorial Services are

planned for 6:00 p.m. on

Thursday, March 10 at

Amundson Funeral Home

in Grand Forks, with fam-

ily greeting/visitation

from 4:00-6:00 p.m. prior

to the service.
