Robert Haider

Jan. 24, 1931-Jan. 29, 2022

Robert “Bob” Haider,

91, lifetime Burlington

resident, died Saturday,

January 29, 2022, in a

Minot hospital.

Robert was born Janu-

ary 24, 1931, in Burling-

ton, ND the fifth of four-

teen children born to

Michael and Margueritte

(Buee) Haider on a

75-degree day in January.

Robert’s arrival was a

speedy one. His dad

couldn’t get the sleigh

hooked up in time, after

getting to the train station

to pick up the doctor, that

he had to transport him

by horseback to the

house. To their surprise,

Robert had already made

his arrival.

Bob grew up in Burling-

ton, ND and was educated

at a country school in Old

Settler’s Park through the

eighth grade. He decided

to join the workforce and

began his employment at

the Minot Country Club,

mowing the grass. Since it

was before he was able to

drive, he travelled by bi-

cycle.

Robert met the love of

his life, Esther Trondson,

at the Howdy Cafe and

they were united in mar-

riage on November 17,

1956. They lived in Bur-

lington and were blessed

with four children.

Bob worked as a car-

penter his entire life. He

worked for various con-

tractors before starting his

own business, Bob’s Ca-

binet Shop. Bob could

build most anything. His

creativity and hard work

ethic continued through

his children and

grandchildren.

Esther passed away No-

vember 18, 2011.

Bob was a charter

member of Peace Luth-

eran Church of Burling-

ton, where he was active

and provided the wood-

working skills seen

throughout the church.

His faith and the church

were a huge part of his

life and were of utmost

importance to him.

Bob enjoyed woodwork-

ing, gardening, bird

watching and tinkering in

his shop. His family was

especially important to

him and his pride for

them was apparent. His

door was always open for

anyone who wanted to

stop by for a visit and a

cup of coffee. Bob was a

wealth of knowledge, and

he could talk about any-

thing and everything.

After a visit with Bob, you

always left with more

knowledge than you came

with and were a better

person for it.

Robert’s loving family

includes his daughter,

Tammy Haider,

Anamoose, ND; sons,

Timothy (Deanna) Haider,

Terry (Jacki) Haider, both

of Burlington and Todd
