Richard Hendershot

July 13, 1934-Feb. 4, 2022

Richard Lee

Hendershot, 87, Minot,

ND, passed away on

Friday, February 4, 2022,

in a hospital surrounded

by his family. He will con-

tinue to be the family pro-

tector as their guardian

angel.

Richard “Dick”

Hendershot was born on

July 13, 1934, in Minot, a

son of Chauncy and Inga

(Stopelstad-Anderson)

Hendershot. He was

raised and educated in

Minot before entering the

United States Navy and

completing his education

in 1952. He went on to

marry his soulmate,

Darlene Weber, on Janu-

ary 20, 1956, at St. Leo the

Great Roman Catholic

Church in Minot. The

couple raised their family,

son Rick and daughters,

Nancy (Greg) Fjeld and

Kathy (Blaine) DesLau-

riers. While Rick was trag-

ically killed in a snowmo-

bile accident in February

1980, the couple showed

profound strength by

moving forward, choosing

joy, displaying a deep

commitment to their faith

as well as their family for

whom they continued to

provide a wonderful life.

They are also blessed with

three marvelous grand-

children and five

great-grandchildren

whom they love and

adore infinitely.

After returning home

from the Navy, Dick

worked on the Great

Northern Railroad as a

brakeman until 1958. He

then went to work for the

City of Minot Fire Depart-

ment, becoming an EMT

until retiring in 1978. He

continued to work as a

journeyman electrician for

Ace Electric until 1995.

His outstanding work eth-

ic built the foundation

from which a wonderful

family life blossomed.

Dick enjoyed hunting,

golfing and thrived on

loading everyone up in

the motorhome and creat-

ing memories with each

mile. He was only one call

away for anything that re-

quired a quick or complex

fix, showing the patience

of a saint. He had many

hobbies and talents, but

his favorite way to pass

the time was spending it

with his loved ones. He

was a former member of

the American Legion, Ea-

gles Club, and Elks Lodge.

Dick is survived by his

wife of 66 years, Darlene;

his daughters, Nancy

(Greg) Fjeld and Kathy

(Blaine) DesLauriers, both

of Minot; grandchildren,

Britni (Terry) Schmalz,

Minot, ND, Brock (Elly)

DesLauriers, Minot, ND,

and Carly Fjeld, Austin,
