Rich Johnson

July 23, 1955-Feb. 5, 2022

Richard A. Johnson, 66,

of Minot passed away on

Saturday, Feb. 5, 2022, at

Trinity Hospital, with his

mother and two brothers

having the chance to say

goodbye in his final days.

Rich was born July 23,

1955, in Minot to Roger

and Leahanne (Loughead)

Johnson and attended

school in the city, gra-

duating from Minot High

School in 1973.

After the Johnson fami-

ly moved to Huron, S.D.,

in 1974, Rich joined his

parents and brothers in

South Dakota, eventually

working a career of more

than 10 years at Huron

Dressed Beef. While in

Huron, he enjoyed riding

motorcycles, both street

bikes and dirt bikes, and

playing softball with his

friends.

Rich returned to the

Minot area in 1986, first

working for Neshem

Farms, then beginning a

career at Minot Builders

Supply, first as an

over-the-road truck driver

and later as a regional

truck driver until his re-

tirement in 2018.

Rich was an avid

hunter, especially deer

and elk, and enjoyed fish-

ing and boating, too. He

was a fan of sports, espe-

cially football, and was a

loyal Minnesota Vikings

supporter. His passion,

however, was his pets,

and he was known to

have as many as four dogs

at one time, and in later

years took in a family of

cats.

Rich is survived by his

mother, Leahanne, and

brothers, Rodney, 61, of

Ross, N.D., and Randy,

56, of Eagan, Minn., along

with many friends.

Rich was preceded in

death by his father, Roger,

of Minot; grandparents

Hjalmer and Clara John-

son of Glenburn, N.D.,

and Ernest and Ruth

Loughead of Minot.
